Yes both the way you smell and taste can and will change due to changes in your hormones. Drink lots and lots of water, cranberry juice and grapefruit juice. It might be just a matter of drinking a lot more water than you used to... but the smell and taste of a woman's vagina does change during pregnancy.

While doing a bit of research on the topic I came across several fantastic resources.
To answer your question of “why” the answer is quite simple. With pregnancy, there is a hormonal change all over your body. These extra little chemical signals get your body ready to carry your child to term, stop menstruation, stimulate production of milk and shift to ensure that the little obligate parasite in you becomes the top priority of your body. The down side is that there is also an increase in vaginal secretions and they become more viscous. This change also alters the pH of your vaginal canal to decrease the chance of bacteria migrating up the vaginal canal and potentially through the mucus plug stops up the middle of your cervix. Now that you know the why, here is the “what to do about it.” The first thing is that you are probably experiencing a increased sense of taste and smell yourself. This may cause you to be more aware of the changes in your body chemistry and therefore your smell. That change in your secretions is there for a reason so PLEASE do not douche or try and flush out the canal! External hygiene is as important as always but should only go as far as your face cloth can reach; do not jam the thing into the canal. If the taste or smell is off putting to your partner, perhaps a flavored lube is the way to go! Some people are sensitive to them so use sparingly until you KNOW that you or your partner are not one of those people. The added bonus of using lube is that some couples that I have talked to have noted that the thicker secretions during pregnancy are not as slippery and therefore you may desire the extra slickness of the lube during intercourse. I found the list below at: http://www.ehow.com/how_513169...smelling-vagina.html This list will help for the taste and smell of ejaculate as well! Step 1 Diet. Eating a healthy balanced diet will maintain healthy ph levels in your vagina. Eating lactobacillus will keep your insides cleansed. I get my from Sunrider, see below. Foods to avoid that will not help you smell sweet: Red Meats Fish Egg Yolks Soy Beans Junk Food Cheese Milk Drugs Alcohol Cigarettes Food that change taste temporary: Onions Asparagus Garlic Curry Foods that add pleasant taste and smell: Pineapple Cherries Bananas Oranges Mango Liquid Chrollyphl Step 2 Wash. Poor hygiene leads to smells and problems later. Make sure you always wipe front to back to prevent e.coli (rectum last). Wash down there twice a day. Step 3 Natural Materials. Only wear cotton underwear. If you wear panty liner make sure they are breathable not the kind with a plastic liner. Do not wear tampons or diaphragms for a long time. Do not wear underwear at night. Let it all air out. Step 4 Safe Sex. Always use a condom unless you are in a long term relationship. Flavored gels can change the taste or smell. Mint is the strongest and will make things highly intense and sensitive. Flavored powders brushed lightly on the outside of your body or on you sheets. Step 5 Drink Teas. Sunrider Calli tea is a great cleanser and detoxifier. Brew one bag in a pot of tea with stevia and you will be healthy, cleansed and feel lighter. If the discharge starts to smell fowl then it is time to go and have your doctor check it out! You may be developing a vaginitis or a UTI Hope this helps NN nurse@freddyandeddy.com Please visit the best stores on the net for couples intimacy! I notice by reading everyone's posts, that no one mentions if the person who asked the first question if his partner was a smoker. I had a girl friend who was a heavy smoker and her vagina really had a strong odor to it. She was very young and she had a heart attack. She had to quit smoking and lose some wieght. her vagina really became quite sweet smelling and tasting. I do believe that smoking and being over weight can be part of the problem.

Wow, thanks for all the info, NN. I knew it had to be hormone-related, like everything else going on with me right now, but it's nice to know the "mechanics" of it. (Yes, I'm nerdy like that!) I already do all the tips you listed for better taste and smell other than #4 and #5. My mom was very picky about personal hygiene, so I've heard most of those since I was a kid. I will admit I don't follow all the food rules.
I'll have to try the flavored lube idea. Hubby's not usually fond of those, but we've only tried one kind before. Any flavors/brands anyone can recommend? Thanks so much for all the great info. |

This is a great thread. Its one of the most touchy subjects in the world, I would guess. I think that the diet changes are a good idea. Trying anything is good instead of making do. But how do you suggest improving hygiene? Wow thats a minefield.
Could it have anything to do with sweat? I think that excessive sweat can smell and taste bad, and I'd associate that with being overweight. R Adult Games For Adventurous Couples |
