A toast to life!

This thread is so amusing!

Our problem isn't the bed (waterbed = heavy and also on a rug) but the headboard. The headboard is not attached to the bed or wall; it is free-standing like a bookshelf. It does bang against the wall when we really get going, so we stuck some socks (yes, socks) down between the headboard and wall. Now the problem is the cat walking around on it, knocking off various items onto our heads in the middle of the night!

Cheers!

Our solution ~ cat problem! I trained the cats to go to their own beds at night time. We now shout "bed time", and send them through to the kitchen. Worry about them needing out at night time? Why no, we also trained them to come in for bed and make sure they go out for wee~wees at about 9:30, so they are back in time for bed!!!

Our solution was to buy a big, very solid wooden bed. It does not, I repeat does not, move!!!!

This is us in a nutshell (I'd usually make some smirky comment like "lose some weight," but I'm feeling nice today). Big Grin

No need they are completely house trained, no litter trays. They are in by 10:30 pm and can get out after 7am. This is esp. important as it is pretty much during these hours, that cats tend to kill the majority of their bird victims (We try to keep this to a minimum).

We have well behaved cats, who are probably better trained than alot of dogs!!! I do feel that they just put up with us.

Train my cat?? Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Good one, G! She's 16 years old and has been accustomed to sleeping with me all that time. But now we live with my guy and he's not used to a wet, purring nose in his ear all night. But Ms. Kitty has decided that it is really HER bed after all. So we play a constant game of toss her off most nights. Then she gets pissy and walks along the headboard, dropping things on our head. Deliberate? There is a pic of her perched on our, I mean HER, bed here. Wink

Sorry for getting so off topic...

Cheers!

Don't knock it til you try it! I didn't believe that you could train cats either. We eventually got sick of them jumping on the bed/us during the night and wanting out at strange hours. It was my Auntie/cat expert who taught us her secret. Mind you she never managed the toilet training bit. Litter tray was always a feature of her house!

Our cat sleeps at the foot of our bed and has to go out every morning at 5 to do his business. Then he usually climbs the window screeen to let us know that he wants back in. Kind of annoying, but he's such a great cat it's worth it.

A friend of mine has a cat that crapped all over her bed when she went on vacation once. She says that she knew it was totally deliberate. So michie, I bet your mittens is picking on you guys.

I guess we are waaaayy off topic here, but I just wanted to throw that in and say that I *love* cat people. You guys are just the best!

Ok, continuing to be off topic...

When my husband and I were dating my cat would curl up "loaf" style on his back while we were going at it. I think she thought the up & down was a ride for kitties or something!

On the bed topic (sort of) we have wood floors downstairs and used to have a futon with wood flaps on the ends that could be lifted up as little tables. After a party one night Ian and I went to bed before his sister and my neighbor left. At about 3am I was awakened to the sound of our futon being scooted across the floor and the rhythmic whacking of the wooden flaps! Eeker Now we have a 100 year old antique sofa made with cherry. It doesn't go anywhere.

Cats being in the same room with me while sex is going on is a serious NO-GO! I think I have scars from the ex-wifes cat. Very painful story... much tears.

since this has turned into a "cats in the bedroom" thread... Caliban sleeps with me all the time. I am awakened everyday by him coming over and sleeping on my face. He just curls up so sweetly on top of my head... however he does not like it one bit when the Croat comes over. The cat always has to come in to the room and just stares disdainfully at him. The Croat says, "he thinks he's the only hairy male allowed in your room" and I think it's true. Wink
