My boyfriend finally convinced to do a full-pub shave after having a trim for about a year. I love the look and I LOVE the intense oral pleasure (BEST climaxes ever!), but even with shaving daily with my Body Bare, I'm still miserably itchy. It's driving me nuts.
I don't think I've got a yeast infection (no symptoms other than itch), but it sure feels that itchy. I've tried several creams - Bikini Zone, cortizone, benadryl, vaseline - relief for a short time and then itch, itch, itch.
I don't want to stop shaving, but I can't take the itch much longer. Any suggestions?
I know this might sound strange but I have found that applying solid deoderant to the area after I shave keeps everything soft and itch free. i found that when I used the body bare shaver I had more itch problems, I think it was the baby powder. After I shaved I would rinse well then use the deoderant, no more itch. Honey

Someone else I knew once suggested deodorant of any sort as well, so the idea definitely has merit. I stopped shaving daily and now do it every other day and only in the spots that really shouldn't 'just' get a trim, so that has reduced the itch a ton too.

If I put deodorant Down There I'd have bad problems. I have really sensitive skin. I wet-shave sometimes and I use Dove Sensitive Skin facial cleanser (no perfume or dye) and I still sometimes get a lot of discomfort at the vaginal opening.
If you really want to stay smooth you can get waxed (full wax is called a Bermuda Wax). It's about $65 and it hurts, but the hair grows in smooth and you don't get razor burn.
I suggest you get a good electric shaver and give that a try. I got a Seiko shaver for $60 at thepussy_shaver.com It's the silver, cylinder-shaped model. No razor burn and it's gentle; won't shave off pimples, etc. The only thing is, it "likes" stubbly hair the best. It didn't get the hairs in the bikini line, even when I shaved them with a wet shaver and let them grow back some. They were still too soft to get cut by the Seiko.
I use it coz I have shaved for a while, and the hair near the lips grows in course and stubbly; this shaver takes it off easily and makes it perfectly smoooooooooth. I do it at night when in bed watching Tv coz you don't have to watch what you are doing; just takes a few min.
I am back to only shaving the lips. My hubby likes that better. I shave from slit to all the way back. That's where his mouth is going, so the important hair is gone. It's too much work and effort to shave the top, and he likes the hair there better, so lucky me!
Final note: if you keep shaving, over time it will stop hurting and itching at all. But it can take years.
Hey Honey Dew! Long time no see! The deodorant idea seems interesting. The concept is rather simple I suppose. Putting on a layer of deodorant would seal in the moisture so that the dryness you encounter when shaving down to the skin makes one itch. So, what kind of deodorant do you use? I would think for unscented and with some kind of aloe based ingredients. Thanks for offering a solution!

Hi Eddy, Yep I'm still around, just crazy busy, so I am kinda in Lurk mode unless I get the urge to post. I got the best results with secret. Another thing I have found is Chochie Cream-you all sent me a nice size sample a while back and that did the trick too, for shaving and is a great moisturizer for after and does seem to help keep the ichies away. Plus after you have shaved for a while I think your skin gets used to it all and the problem lessens. Honey

I don't so much like the aloe based ingredients because in the long run they seem to end up drying you out. Personally, I prefer a simple unscented (or naturally scented, there's a few of those out there) clear solid. I have no clue why I prefer it clear, it just seems to go on better. Gel feels too mushy if you're getting dressed right away.
It would be interesting to try all the different shave creams out there (made for bikini line or not) and see what works best for different skin types. We should start a panel!

try a good aloe shave cream with a three blade razer have shaved for five years and have not had any rash. But you have to shave at least twice a week. Of course this is on a male but a female would be the same as my wife shaves too but when you let the stuble grow it can cause a itch.
Thanks and Welcome GM Box! It's great to hear from the male point of view too. Although I think most of us have to shave at least every other day (as you said regarding the start of the regrowth) to avoid the "itchies", rather than twice weekly.

I'd suggest a lotion containing calendula - check at your local health/natural food store.
Some itchies are probably inevitable as hair grows back in - light exfoliation (light!) can also help relieve the itchies.
I find that I itch less if I shave using no extra products after a long soak in the bath (actually, I just shave in the bath, either underwater or just above the water level.) If I do use product, I'll use a light olive oil, although that can be hard to clean up.
Welcome and Thanks for the added info. Norasake! The olive oil sounds delicious, although you might have a hankering for fresh baked bread after you shave! Just kidding!
By the way, love your site.
