Welcome Ric, I'm sure TC will pop in at some point, but I'll tell you what I know from my exposure (which is huge) to the porn industry.

First, you better make sure you REALLY want to do this. It all seems like a good idea at first, but then you decide to run for Senator or get a great job later on down the line and, low and behold, your past catches up with you and sinks you. Porn isn't much a career for guys (do you really want to be like Ron Jeremy?) and more gals end up broke and fucked up than like Jenna Jameson or Tera Patrick. And they're fucked up, too, in their own ways.

Still want to do it? OK, then toss out the fact you're good-looking, because that only counts for part of it. The REAL criteria is "reliable wood." If you want a great example of what I mean by this, call up a bunch of your GUY friends, have them gather round, and masturbate until you come right in front of them. Then do it again two or three times. Most of the guys you see in porn are not much to look at, BUT they can perform. I've seen lots of guys who went in like studs and came out like duds. It's not easy and you better get used to lots of Viagra and Cialis to help you during those long shoots. There's a reason you see the same guys in so many movies; they're well-hung and can get it up and keep it up.

Finally, don't expect to make much money. Typically, a girl can make $800-1200.00 for a day of filming (more popular ones make more, obviously), while guys seldom crack 400-500.00. True, there are few jobs that pay this per day, but few jobs expose you to STD's, humiliation, and long hours pumped up on Viagra.

I have to agree with Freddy - performance anxiety will knock you out of the playing field immediatelty. Also many male straight porn stars do gay porn as it pays better.

Freddy's covered the important points. The way we cast and make films is unlike anything in the porn business. I don't really have anything to add except be careful.
