I really like the leg shaver.

Honestly, if I had to make a recommendation, I'd recommend just getting the Body Bare and the Meida.

The Feminine is nothing more than the micro-touch As-Seen-On-TV trimmer, with a bigger handle. You could pick up one of those for $9.99 on sale at CVS and be fine.

The Lady Faire is pretty unnecessary, too. Really a cheap shaver - that's all.

But the Body Bare gets a very close shave. (If only I didn't have to touch up every day... Darn this slavic heritage!)

And the Meida is good both wet and dry, so you can really get a good shave on your legs.

Hope this has been helpful.

Hi Songchick, now that you have had the razor for a few weeks, are you still happy with it?

Very.
You get a very close shave - the key is that everything has to be completely dry. You can make sure of that by brushing over everything with baby powder. I shave now by sound and feel - you can tell by the sound when you're getting the hairs, and you can tell by feel where you need to shave - so I don't have to contort myself like a pretzel (until I'm in the bedroom with hubby - wink)

And to clean the shaver, there's a brush that you use on the blade to make sure you get off all the powder - then you hit it with a can of compressed air, and it blows all the powder and hairs out to keep it clean. Once you're done, you use a drop or so of the oil that they sell to keep everything lubricated.

And we ALL know how important lubrication is!

If you're thinking of purchasing, just buy the body bare (and the Meida - although I'm finding it takes more time to use the Meida than my Venus standard blade shaver, so I'm using the Meida less and less frequently) along with lubricating oil. And if you don't already hve baby powder and an application brush, you can get that, too. Then buy a can of compressed air at the hardware store and you're all set.

When I was purchasing, I didn't know what I'd want and what I wouldn't. So I bought a lot more than I'd buy now if I had to do it all over again. I'd have saved about $40 if I'd known then what I know now.

Hope this is helpful.

May I present: The Bodygroom.

It's designed for "coarse male hair" (especially in the pubic region) Oh, and it's a wet/dry shaver, which makes things quite a bit easier. On top of that, it's $40 ( @ Amazon.com, including free shipping!), which beats the Body Bare by a mile.

I've not heard of anyone who's used it yet, but the site is amusing (check out the music video!). I'd be interested to see how well it works, before I shell out, but since my BodyBare was disappointing (still have no idea why), it could be an option for me.

Um... in my opinion, male hair is no more coarse than female hair.

The Body Bare is nice and Songchick is right about being able to do it by sound after a while. In addition to that though I found a couple of products that are less expensive and work wonderfully! The first is Coochy Shave Creamnow I got a regular razor called the Schick Protector, it doesn't tug on your skin like some other razors can do. I think that the more blades on a razor the harder it is on those sensitive areas! I love this razor for pubic and underarms!! After shaving with either an electric or regular razor I spray the Coochy Aftershave Protection Mist. This stuff is great and leaves everything sooo soft!!!

I always say if I win the lottery one of the first places I visit will be a laser center and get it all removed. I too hate shaving with a passion and I'm one of those unlucky ones with a lot of coarse hair. Ick.

For those who can tolerate it, I used a hair removal cream by Sally Hansen. It smelled awful, but it worked great. I was smooth longer and slick as a whistle. It isn't for everyone, some people can't tolerate the chemicals, so if you aren't sure try it first and don't get too close to your sensitive areas. But be advised it can get very messy.

To those who have undergone the waxing regime, how did you overcome the embarrassment factor? I'm rather rubenesque in my figure and a bit shy about doing this. But I like the idea that I wouldn't have to shave as often.

I'm with you with the waxing. Would be interested in doing it, but it seems a tad awkward, especially as I live in a small town. If I still lived in NYC, the anonymity would make would be a bit more appealing.

Hey Qadish and Mkidd,

I've tried the waxing route a couple and decided that it's not for me...

*BUT* I was amazed at how comfortable I was with the woman doing the job. She was one of the most down to earth people I think I've ever met (when you think about it, anyone performing this task would have to be). She very obviously didn't think anything of me wanting to wax off all my coochy hair... and it occured to me that she's the one who signed up for the job.

She's had lots of experience though, so if you decide to do this you might want to be sure the person you go to does too. I think it can make a lot of difference.

S

PS ~ Mkidd I love that avatar! Swimming is one of my favorite things! Smiler

When you put it like that it sort of makes sense...I still don't think I can go to my regular salon where I get my hair cut and my brows waxed though.

Thanks re: the avatar. I'm a bit worried to have it up. But I love this series of paintings by kristin klosterman. She has a website

They can be a little scary or depressing looking. I just see them as representative of how I feel right now--needing to come up for air. I love the one "swim girl heads up.jpg" on her site, but it's the wrong proportion and I don't feel right about cropping it. It's bad enough I swiped an image as an avatar. I figure a good plug of her work may help my karma...
