I realize that the topic of Cock Rings has about run its course, but I was hoping that everyone here could shed some light on this newbie.

I am attempting to size myself for my first ring and I am doubting myself if I am doing the sizing correctly.

I am following the instructions to a tee in that I have my strip of paper that is no wider than 1/4 inch thick. I am wrapping the paper around my scrotum and making the paper where it meets the end on the top of my penis (where it meets my abdomen).

I measure the paper and this is where I am doubting things. I came up with a measurement of 23 cm's which converted to inches is just a tad over 9 inches. So, I divide 9 by 3 and come up with a diameter of 3 inches.
This just doesn't sound right to me for when I look at the sizes of rings available on this website from Gear Essentials, the largest ring that they offer is 2 1/8.
I am doubting that I am doing this right since I am far from being a large person (by any stretch of the imagination).
I have measure multiple times to ensure that I am doing everything right and my measurements only differ in fractions of centimeters.

From my description, can anyone see what I am doing wrong or am I doing everything right, but I am interpreting the results incorrectly.

Of course I want to get the right fit so that my first ring comes with a pleasurable experience and not something that either binds or falls off completely!

It certanly sounds like you are doing it right. I would advise that you go out and get a cheep CR at 2 1/8 and try it for fit. When I first did my measurments I had the same problem. I got a titan .2 as my first ring and it worked well but...I now realize that 2" is a better fit for me.

Every man's anatomy is different slightly and it also depends on how "relaxed" the boys are. If they are well retracted you are going to get a larger diamiter reading and if they are hanging low then a lower number will result.

Now, as you have stated, there are a lot of threads on this topic. Please, please, please post in an old thread on the topic than start a new one. Trust me, when an old thread is revived, it will get noted and responded to.

Where is Ketch when you need him. I had the same issues and just guessed on a size. Depending on the ring will depend on how it fits I could use one size smaller on the fury and larger rings so keep that in mind.

Yeah- I'm getting a really bizarre sizing too. It may just be that the boys were a bit retracted. My measurement was slightly over 11"... That means I need a 3 2/3" diameter... it seems absurd.

I've been one of those guys that continuously underestimates himself. Splitting a regular-sized condom all along the side of my shaft was the beginning of my realization that I was quite on the girthy side. (The instructions don't tell you when it's really too small! )

Anyway, I just bit the bullet (sounds punny; it's not intended) and just went for the thinnest, largest diameter F&E had. (I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival; I just ordered it this morning :P )... I'll figure it out one way or another... I hope. And if I do need help figuring it out, I know my newfound friends here'll help!

the easiest way to get the size right is the trip to the hardware store. they have 1/4" 0 rings in sizes from 1 1/2" on up and for a couple of bucks you can get one of each size you think might fit and get really close to the correct fit. the correct fit is the one that has some ,not complete, restriction when fully erect and no pain or discomfort. the most gear rings sold are in size 1 7/8" and i would think most males gear would have a size for.there largest is 2 1/8". the o rings will get you very close,better too big than too small,but the correct size is really important. i have several gear rings and the titan .040 is a very good starter ring in my opinion.it has become my favorite and most often used ring and if you purchase one from f and e they will make sure you end up with the correct size. i have two different sizes in some rings,smaller and tighter for casual wear and the larger size for in the sack. enjoy!! ketch!!

Listen to ketch, guys. Get thee to a hardware store. If you read back through all the various cock ring threads, you will see that LOTS of guys had the same measuring issues (and it has been discussed many many times). My guy had the same problems initially. So we went to the hardware store, bought a few rubber O-rings, tried them on, ordered from F&E, and lived happily ever after.

I think one of the main problems with the sizing instructions is that when people measure around the base of the penis/scrotum, they're following the letter of the instruction in lieu of how the ring actually fits. I'm sure if I measured tightly against my body where the scrotum meets up, I'd have a lot larger dimension than I needed. Truly, the ring sits down a bit on the scrotum since you're packaging it together with the shaft and a rigid steel ring isn't going to flex, but instead pull the scrotum further forward.

I'm sure that description doesn't help much, but think about how it will work and you should really just measure the diameter where the scrotum is actual loose skin just under where it attaches to the body and is flexible enough to be pulled forward slightly.

Hmmm....guess it's time for a trip to the hardware store!
Mr. Diz measured last night (Unfortunately I had fallen asleep and wasn't there to help...I know, Bad Wife) and didn't come up with a good #.
So we'll try again with the instructions on the computer screen to refer to....

a white automotive or electrical zip tie works also but make sure you disable the zip tab lock so you can get it back off. position it and then mark it with a felt tip pen,take it off and then measure with a ruler. make sure you try it limp and erect. should get you close. enjoy!! ketch!!

Thanks, Ketch I actually got ahold of him tonight and came up with a # much closer to what would be right. So we'll "run some tests" and see if he'll try the zip tie thing so we can get an order in at F&E.

if you have a local feed store where they sell tack, you can get brass harness rings for cheap to see what size fits well...then order a good one.

Oh Geesh ajay....you would mention a feed store!
I work at a horse facility (and like to melt my credit card at feed stores )
I would have NEVER thought to buy some of the metal rings from there for size trials.
Then I can use them at the barn after we're done with them

Damn, with all these great suggestions it just goes to show that sometimes you have to think out side the "box" (no pun intended) to get the job done!
Never would I have ever thought of going to Home Depot or other store to pick up a cheap o ring to test drive.
My favorite gal, Tea, is getting me my first ring for X-mas! I can't wait to get back to the States and give it a try!
I wonder if some of these suggestions on sizing may be a set up for a redneck joke. "You may be a redneck if your C.R is from Home Depot!"
