well, that pic was kind of old, and although i didn't mean to kill it, i guess i did when i tried to edit the html to be a different size. Oops... more pics on the way though soon!

(BTW, in case my last comment is misconstrued, I'm not trying to use this forum as a personals ad or anything like that. It's just awkward to take pics of myself in front of a mirror....)

Yep, I know the feeling, Tom. I took plenty of pics of myself (mostly close ups), and gained a few strained muscles during the contorsions involved in the proceedings. Recently I discovered, harken harken, the use of the self timer. It works! And of course it is the only solution to take pics of yourself from a distance, unless you have a remote control.

Chose a place for posing. If the ´landscape´is not inspiring, hang a nice sheet as a background (my favourite is a blue-black duvet cover!), trying to cover a fair amount of space all around. Stand a broom or a mop in the place where you should pose (unpoetical, I know, but it´s practical, believe me), and use this reference to position the camera and the lights. A tripod helps, but it´s not necessary. I find that putting the camera on my painting easel works just as fine. a tall stool wd probably do the job too. Warm sidelights give the nicecest effects. Avoid flash if you can. Makes even the best tanned skin look corpse pale, and gives no nice shadows. When everything is in place.... remove the broom and be sexy!!

I have done a bit of amateur photography before, just never of myself, so any advice I can get is helpful.

On the subject of skin tone, one experiment I did ended up having too little light, and I ended up looking a ruddy color. I wish I could capture that color again, without everything looking fuzzy.
