Read today on NFIB, National Federation of Independent Business) that the US Government has decided we have been in a recession since December of 2007. GD news to me, I lost 6 figure fucusaandmyass last year. I am not rich!!!
I got employees their families and my family I need to take care. They have enough economist in the Fucusallintheass USA to stretch around the around the world hand to hand. These SOB's cannot say recession anymore than a golfer can say Shank. If hear one gd word about race, religion, or politics I swear I will strip you down and tickle you to death. Politics maybe,not elephant or asses fault, the whole damn system fault. I don't feel a damn bit better, but a fucking $168,000 will do.
I don't need a cry on the shoulder, we all need one.
If I go broke, I am going to get a job as an economist and when it comes time to call Shank, I will.
Venting, you just got a back-draft blow job.

I know you are venting. I had to laugh at the board telling us what we already knew. The NFIB is always behind the curve an duse different measurements. I know that does you no good.

I feel for you or I should say your employees since I have never owned my own business. And I really do wish you the best of luck in getting through.

I agree a shank is a shank, a problem is not an opportunity, and a duck, no matter what you call it still quacks.

i gotta love it. a recession is a recession is a recession. while the govt says its not a recession its not a recession. sure felt like one.

i feel for ya chow, they help move our manufacturing base offshore, then wonder what happened to all the jobs. at least you have remained true to your workforce, and produce your product here. not many left who do so.

I feel ya, Chow. I got a demented mother-in-law moving into my house on Monday due to this, uh, whatever they call it (shhh... it's called a RECESSION). Add to that no vacation outside Burning Man and a drive to Hearst castle in the last 6 years, two cars in serious need of some TLC, and a credit card bill I may never live to see the end of. Oh well, at least I can still play with sex toys!!!

Thanks guys! I did not ask for it but I needed it.
I buy paint from the largest paint mfg in the world. You have seen their logo, half the world covered in paint. I like doing business with these people, I am pretty sure it is all made in the USA. My rep came by the other day and ask what I thought about the economy. My thoughts were that it would be well past the first of the year before we see anything significant. His company felt like it would be the end of the second quarter or the first of the third quarter before we see any improvement in the economy. We are talking about the end of May or sometime in June. These guys are sharp, I trust what they say over anything I read, see, or hear. So, I am pinching my pennies so hard they will not lay flat. I still got a regular job, just part-time economist for now.

Perspective... Yesterday I had an unscheduled errand, to drive someone to radiation therapy. As I was in the waiting room I was struck by the thought that waiting rooms are the most depressing and at the same time uplifting rooms in the world. The sights of some folks, their situations, and their perhaps most importantly their attitudes. The camaraderie amongst the 'regular' drivers, the patients themselves, their stories.
I am sorry if this is not 'directly' on topic, but Nigel's "... rather count what I got... give thanks..." comment got me thinking....

Cosmos has wrapped our household in a pretty secure situation.

Our calling: get back to the Real Stuff of Life. Getting priorities right. Stocking up to help selves and neighbors.

I'm thinking a tax revolt is in order.

Either that or get off the radar. I wonder how to do that.

Commendably, they do offer zero VOC paint. Maybe someday they'll get on the ball and make all their paint that way.

Now THAT puts a smile on my face! LOL

We just got a couple huge checks from the IRS in the mail on Tuesday. I guess they owed us a bunch in over payment and actually refunded it (I know, craziest thing EVER). That and our "economic stimulus" check made property taxes easier to swallow this week. It's just moving one government pile to another, but at least it's not another expense we have to find. Whew.

You're right Nigel, I don't mean to come off ungrateful. Heck, I love my situation and wouldn't trade it for the world.
