Well, the water is finally cleared out and our shop dry again. I think we'll have to replace the carpet in the kitchen area as there's a funky smell from the soaking it took. Other than that, we're getting a new water heater and slowly putting the stock back out on the floor. Unfortunately, we signed a NNN lease, meaning we are responsible for just about everything. The property manager is going to try to get us some rent relief, however. Now the air conditioner is a concern, though with fall and winter coming we won't need it much.

In other news, my DJ hobby is progressing along nicely. I got all the software I need to make some cool mixes and converted all my iTunes purchased music to MP3 using a program called All Music Converter, which strips away the DRM encryption. Take that, Apple scum!

Kealii is enjoying 3rd grade and well under way to a great year. We've signed him up for flag football in fall and basketball in winter at the local park and rec center (yes, I'll be coaching once again). We were planning on an October trip to Hawaii, but may go to Minnesota and Iowa instead. We have friends in Minneapolis and Buck and Topless in Iowa. Might as well knock out those visits before the weather turns frightful. Otherwise, we'll make the trip to the midwest in June.

Finally, I've managed to score monthly columns in both Xbiz.com and GAYVN, of all places. The Xbiz article will be two toy reviews per month, while the GayVN pieces will concern our daily lives as adult store owners. With the LA and OC Weekly gigs, the writing projects will be keeping me quite busy in addition to running the Freddy and Eddy site. Whew!

Freddy,

One question, with all that you have going on: The shop, being a loving husband and an attentive father, the DJ Hobbie, author and news correspondant, when do you sleep?

Congrats Kumara. I too hope the next 9 month are bearable!.

MJ

I'm currently addicted to Monster's BIG BLACK energy drink. The stuff kicks my ass for hours after I pound the jumbo can. I tried it on the way out of Burning Man and it literally saved our lives by keeping me awake through the Sierra mountains into Sacramento. It says it only has half the caffiene of a regular cup of coffee, so whatever else is in there sure does the trick. And it tastes fabulous.

You might try the Loca Mocha version of it as it has pretty good flavor.

Yeah, tried it and you're right. I'm now alternative between the two each day. Big Black day today (ooh, that didn't come out right!).

Good news today. We got hired to write a monthly toy review feature in a trade pub called Xbiz (www.xbiz.com). It'll be kind of a "He said, she said" thing, with three or four toys getting the microscope. The best part is that Xbiz is experienced holding trade shows and it looks like they're going to help make my idea of an upscale erotic expo in early February a reality.
