Joy, happieness and jubilations!!! 20th Anniversary Special Edition Transformers the Movie. Yes 20 years ago I sat in the theater and watched the final battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron, now they release the SE Anniversary DVD. complete with 3 versions of the movie, one being a "pop-up video" style version. me and the Bug have watched it 4 times now. I still cry when Prime dies.

Ya know, I just saw that dumbass movie at Costco today. Eegad, Ranger, you've been drinking too much motor oil and definitely need a good dose of AVN. I DID see a "Forbidden Planet" special edition, though, which has me all drooling and shit.

Borat RULES!!!

We watched "Cars" over the last weekend and loved every minute.

Bite your tongue you dog eating heathen! Transformers rule! They are at the very core of 80's pop culture! Although Cars was a great flick as well. Feh... Transformers not a good movie.. excuse me while I go purify my eyes from reading this... need to find lemon juice and a cheese grater.

We just saw "UnHappily Ever After" and have to say it's one of the WORST movies we've ever seen. Lousy animation, bad writing, annoying characters, this movie isn't even worth a rental for the kids! Sara Michelle Geller and Freddy Prinze Jr. are about the most unappealing voices we've ever heard. Awful.

I think/fear the golden era of computer animated films has come to an end. The awe that was struck by "Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Shrek, The Incredibles, Monster's Inc., Ants, A Bug's Life," and even to a lesser extent "Cars, Ice Age" and "Happy Feet," has been replaced by opportunistic garbage like "Veggie Tales, UnHappily Ever After, Ant Bully, Shrek 2, Flushed Away, Madagascar, Everyone's Hero," and "Shark Tales." It's really a shame.

So, avoid "UnHappily Ever After" at all costs.

I almost pee'd in my pants, but we actually have a customer whose credit card name is "Megatron Decepticon." I thought it might be Ranger in disquise, but it was totally for real!

I had a customer at the opera who's name is "Bambi Cheerleader". He (yes, he) even wore a name placard to let us know. Wink

Anyway, back on topic... Freddy, did you see Hoodwinked? Ass on a cracker!! It looked like a bad video game... I honestly just have a hard time watching computer animated movies that aren't--I hate to say it--Pixar. They just do outstanding work!

And Ranger I hear ya on the Transformers movie! I'm totally stoked for the live action one this summer!!

Megatron is a douche bag! Optimus Prime rocks! And it's good to see at least ONE Transformers fan here aside from me.

Agreed! From my blog:

The new Transformers movie trailer is out and I'm so freakin' excited!!
Yes, I understand there are skeptics out there, but my take on it is this: I've loved both the teaser (I about wet my pants when I saw it Red Face ) and the trailer. I loved the show as a little girl and would run home from school to watch it nearly every day. I'm very excited about this movie--maybe it will refresh my crush on Optimus Prime (yes, I had a crush on a robotic 18-wheeler. I never claimed to be normal). But I don't know that I'm going to analyze the differences between the movie and the cartoon. I mean, it was 20 years ago! Do I remember a whole lot of it? Not so much. Will I be able to find faulty storylines? Doubt it. Do I care? No way!

Sure, it could suck. But it could be wicked awesome! The CG looks great from what I've seen so far. I'm going to see it either way--I'm not going to get all "George Lucas raped my childhood!"** on it. It's just a movie...

**yes, I know it's not a George Lucas movie. I'm referring to the many people stating this after seeing the not-even-close-to-being-holy trilogy. And to those people I said, "if your main childhood experience is a trilogy of movies, I'm very sorry for you." And yeah, I loved 'em too, but I don't feel like my entire childhood is wasted or ruined because I didn't like the choices made in a separate but related set of three movies. Sheesh!! It's entertainment, people! /rant

Woo hoo! Robots in disguise!!

Now wait just a second, "Hoodwinked" rocked! The "Rashomon" theme, combined with smart dialogue and Triple G, the extreme sports grandma? A grunge band of animals with a mosh pit? The shnitzel man? Mr. Peepers?

Priceless!

And sorry, Transformers are about as lame as those George Lucas movies - pee-YEW!

Me and my friends are already planning the Transformers premiere party. Call me a sugar-fed tasteless swine, but I LOVE Michael Bay.

Me and my wife both hated hoodwinked. The kids didn't like it much either.

I haven't watched Hoodwinked and I don't really care too much about George Lucas, or the Transformers. BUT being that this is the "new releases" thread, I thought I would mention that we watched the Descent last night and it was the most effin' scariest thing EVER! If you like scary stuff, and you haven't seen the directors cut with the real ending, then this is the movie for you!

I've heard that movie was really cool. Kind of like "Aliens" in underwater caves, right?

We are planning to see "Venus," starring Peter O'Tool this weekend. We've heard great things about it.

Yeah, it is really cool. It's a lot like alie-n, ya know the first one, very chlaustrophobic and stuff. I don't know, but it's been creeping me out all day!

You're a sugar-fed tasteless swine. Michael Bay sucks ass. Wink

We'll probably rent "Descent" pretty soon, though I get totally chicken when it comes to scary flicks.

"Night at the Museum" was awesome. Jade and I enjoyed it more than the kids did.

Anybody seen "For Your Consideration" yet? I think I missed it when it showed here, but I need to check again. I love Christopher Guest's films.

"Transformers".... I dunno. I tried watching the old movie again and broke out into a rash. But that had a lot to do with two aspects of the movie:
1) The bad Night Ranger/Loverboy/whoever-the-fuck soundtrack

Geezy Creezy- Who wrote and performed that music? Could they not afford a real composer? Was KC and the Sunshine Band busy?

2) Rodimus Prime.

What the hell? An El Camino with a camper becomes the leader of the Autobots? Did Lee Iacoca buy out the franchise? Why not dig up an Pinto with four flat tires to lead them?

Freddy: Can we start singing "Pearl Harbor Sucks Just a Little Bit More Than I Miss You" from the "Team America: World Police" soundtrack now?

"I miss you like Michael Bay missed the point
When he made Pearl Harbor"

OK, we just saw "Blades of Glory" and laughed our ASSES off!

Next up is "Grindhouse," which we hope to see next weekend. Tarantino is never to be missed.
