I just got back from the first screening this morning, and I loved it. Everybody should see it.

We definitely SHOULD have seen it; we instead took four kids to see "Fantastic Four," which was, ummmm, pretty awful.

Fantastic 4 could have and should have been a hell of a lot better, not one of my favorite movies, hell I never even got into he comic book unless they were doing a crossover with spiderman or the x-men. Ah I could go on for hours on the whole comic book turned movie subject.
Hmm, we saw the previews and just were turned completely off by them. The version with Gene Wilder as Willie Wonka is a great movie and I think even with toda's effects and budgets that movie would be hard to top.

I agree with you, Buck, but all the reviews are saying it's great, so we might try to take the little one tonight.
Ranger, I'm totally with you on FF. Let's not forget they appeared in Spiderman numero uno and there were frequent head-buttings between Human Torch and Spidey in the early issues (both had attitudes when in hero modes). I just couldn't get past the fact that Thing was way too much like the Hulk, and Mr. Fantastic was Plastic Man. But, like you, I could go on for hours about this stuff.

While my wife and I were on our honeymoon, we saw Daredevil. We really liked the X-Men and thought that it might be as good. Oops, that sucked. So, we had some concern that most of the comic remakes would start taking that turn. Boy, were we wrong with the Spidermans. The only thing that was apealing about Elektra was her costume!

Charlie and the chocolate factory cannot be compared to the old willie wonka movie. It's not a remake of the movie. This one is based on the book, so muchmore true to the original Dahl story. It was really outstanding, and yes, I agree, the wilder version is brilliant, and as a musical hard to top. As I said, two totally different films.
Never really liked Superman comics unless he was teaming up with Batman. But yeah, it was a good movie. Hellboy was a comic I never read, which is weird, cause I grew up about an hour from Dark Horse comics, But yes again another good flick. Was a little unsure about Constantine.
From a socialist liberal ACLU stand point DO NOT SEE Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I want to start a petition! What the f*ck was up with having one Oompa Loompa? Are there not a few little people sitting by the phone looking for work? Excuse my ignorance for not reading the book, maybe Ronald Dahl mentioned cutting production costs by using the same actor to fill the job of 10s that Tim Burton easily could afford.
I do like Tim Burton, I read James and the Giant Peach by Ronald Dahl and liked it, and I think Johnny Depp is tits; I'd be happy to invite him to a party. But the movie sucked. I was so bored.
The only good parts were the verbatim iterations from the old movie.
One Oompa Loompa, what a load of crap. I suppose they'll only use one black man for the remake of roots. This is bullsh#t, don't see the movie.
I could hardly even understand the Oompa Loompas songs. At least in the first one they gave us large print subtitles with which to sing along.
The kids liked it though, so I guess it was worth the $26. I'll stick to my non-book based favorite.
Oh, and Celt, Batman Begins ROCKED! The best movie I've seen this year. It kind of reminded me of The Saint rather than a super hero movie.

I actually enjoyed the fact that the tribe of oompa loompas were all supposed to look the same. I doubt that it really was a production cost problem . The new songs were the original poems from the Roald Dahl (no N) books, so i thought that was actulally a positive improvement. But hey, each to his own, right? Can't wait for corpsebride though. And Batman was definitely ok, i mean not the best film ever, but a good trashy summer movie.
Well, we went to see the chocolate thingy on Friday. Hubby, you're RIGHT, the movie sucked ass! I don't care about the Oompa thing, but what the hell was that interpretation of Willy Wonka about? Depp's weirdo thing might have worked for "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Edward Scissorhands," but it was WAY out of place here. And, though it may be more accurate at the end, I was WAY more into Charlie proving his worthiness by giving the Gobbstopper back than this bogus family refusal thing. Blech. $37.00 (us, our son, and mother-in-law) down the drain.
