Ok... As a few of you know... I'm a huge Ryan Reynolds fan.. I think he's a friggen riot. So, here's my endorsement for the movie Waiting. Just got a copy of it and when it comes out in the real world, y'all gotta at least rent it. He's his usual smartass self. Great flick.

I could not resist this. As this is Burns night in the land of my heritage I send this out to Grump and Gran as well as justg and any other who herrald from that corner of the globe.

Tony Blair is visiting an Edinburgh hospital. He enters a ward full of
patients with no obvious sign of injury or illness and greets one.

The patient replies:
"Fair fa your honest sonsie face,
Great chieftain o the puddin race,
Aboon them a ye take yer place,
Painch, tripe or thairm,
As langs my airm."

Blair is confused, so he just grins and moves on to the next patient.

The patient responds:
"Some hae meat an canna eat,
And some wad eat that want it,
But we hae meat an we can eat,
So let the Lord be thankit."

Even more confused, and his grin now rictus-like, the PM moves on to the
next patient, who immediately begins to chant:
"Wee sleekit, cowerin, timrous beasty,
O the panic in thy breasty,
Thou needna start awa sae hastie,
Wi bickering brattle."

Now seriously troubled, Blair turns to the accompanying doctor and asks

"Is this a psychiatric ward?"

"No," replies the doctor,

"this is the serious Burns unit."

Thank you, thank you... another good giggle. Given that I am stuffed full of cold and our French director is over on a visit I need as many giggles as possible.

Oh Lord, that is funny... I needed that joke last week...

Ang. I can't imagine being away from G. for 9 months - we hate being apart for a couple of nights! Our son is in the military and it looks as if he will be off to play in the sand again this year for an indefinite period. Hard on his wife and the two boys who are now 10 and 11 BUT this is what their father has always done and his is there most of the time mostly it is just 2 or 3 weeks he is away in say 6 months. For the past 9 months he has been on 24 hours to go - anywhere - with what you guys would call a MASH Unit.Odd that I can talk about this stuff here and be understood whilst a lot of our friends can't, I tried to explain to one really good friend how disrupting this was for the whole family - she couldn't get it!
