Sexual Pilgrim |
Big thumbs-up for this book...its a fun romp through love and sexuality by examining foods and their purportedly aphrodisical effects. Mind you, this is done with tongue planted firmly in-cheek as the author tries-out the different foods on herself and friends. The prose is quite playful and the book is filled with recipes (all of which were tried by the author with the help of her super-cook mom).
The writing is intelligent and Allende shows herself to be magnificently open-minded when it comes to sexuality. Neat stuff! ---- There are three possible parts to a date, of which at least two must be offered: entertainment, food, and affection. It is customary to begin a series of dates with a great deal of entertainment, a moderate amount of food, and the merest suggestion of affection. As the amount of affection increases, the entertainment can be reduced proportionately. When the affection is the entertainment, we no longer call it dating. Under no circumstances can the food be omitted. -Miss Manners' Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behaviour |
