We've discussed favorite "hot" movies, but what about movies that aren't necessarily "hot" but do have wonderful love scenes? Those we don't have a thread for. I can think of several. Can you?

First would be Coming Home with Jon Voight and Jane Fonda. Now this one might not translate well for those who didn't live through the Vietnam War, but it has one of the hottest and sweetest love scenes ever put down on film. Jane plays the wife of an officer who is in Vietnam, she is back in the US volunteering at the VA. Jon Voight plays a paralyzed vet. They strike up a friendship and their relationship deepens. They eventually consumate their relationship, but since Voight's character is numb from the waist down Fonda's character is unsure what to do what results is really nicely done. And when Fonda experiences her first orgasm through oral sex, which she has never had done to her before, it is truly beautiful.

The other one I've always found great is the love scene in the first Terminator film. When I first saw it in a theater I was on a first date and had no idea it was coming. Wow! I've had a thing for Michael Biehn ever since. LOL!

So anyone have any others?

I'm going to go for the classic:
An Affair To Remember

The end of that movie - when Cary Grant comes in and sees her on the couch, and he finally puts it all together... I cry every single time!

I have to agree on the Coming Home pick - SOOO hot!

I love Elizabeth Taylor's entrance in A Place in the Sun, as well as Brando embracing Kim Hunter at the bottom of the stairway after his famous "STELLA!" yell.

Teen jerk material includes Jennifer Jason Leigh's disrobing and quickie with Damone in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (and let's not forget Phoebe Cates coming out of the pool to The Cars "Living in Stereo"), Shannon Tweed in a scorching hot tub scene in Hot Dog - The Movie, Jacqueline Bisset in "Secrets," and Richard Gere with Valerie Kaprisky in Breathless.

Oh man, and how about the love scene between Marie-France Pisier and Christian Marquand in The Other Side of Midnight. She mounts him and reaches over to the ice bucket WHAM... he goes out of his mind.

Freddy, now that you mention Jennifer Jason Leigh I don't think there is another mainstream actress in Hollywood who seems to embrace nudity and sexuality in her characters the way she does. She really has done some bold roles where sexuality has played a big role in the film. Some of them like Fast Times, at a fairly young age. Films like Flesh & Blood with Rutger Hauer or most disturbingly Last Exit to Brooklyn where she plays a prostitute and submits to a gang bang of gargantuan proportions. Now that one wasn't hot, but it was a disturbing look at sexuality. She still does them today most recently, In The Cut with Meg Ryan and Mark Ruffalo. And that one had a surprisingly good scene between Ryan and Ruffalo, with him explaining how he learned a certain technique.

I think the greatest thing that works in love scenes of any kind is the chemistry. If the stars have it, be it Brando, or Cary Grant, you buy into it. Otherwise it can be truly laughable.

One of the hottest, most primal love scenes I've ever seen was between Halle Berry and Billy Bob in Monster's Ball. I was very glad I was alone when I was watching that one.

I hadn't thought about Last Exit to Brooklyn, which was a very powerful book that she got amazingly RIGHT in that scene.

That Monsters Ball scene was pretty smoking, even if Billy Bob is kind of funky.

I can think of lots of hot scenes, but I also like implied sexual tension, like between Jean Reno and Natalie Portman in "The Professional," as well as scenes leading up TO the sex, like Diane Lane's seduction and aftermath in "Unfaithful." Very provocative.

The movie "King Arthur". The scene with Keira Knightley and Arthur (or was in Lancelot? Guinevere's such a slut.) was incredible. I was so disappointed that it was interrupted but it was HOT, baby.

Moonkiss, yep that one was amazingly well done. And unlike other love scenes it looked like sex really looks. No artful angles or hair dresser standing by. It was earthy and real and who knew Billy Bob could be sexy? I saw it by myself at 1 am on cable and couldn't believe it.

Freddy, I think even simulating that scene would have been horrifying. I saw that film on a date in a theater and jeez it wasn't exactly a date film.

Hubby, sometimes the most surprising films can have good scenes, like King Arthur although I hated the way they edited it.

Anyone seen Killing Me Softly with Joseph Fiennes and Heather Graham? They have chemistry out the wazoo in this sexual thriller. Fiennes is magnetic in it. The love scenes are ones not seen in the usual movie fare. When was the last time you saw a Hollywood film with a love scene that deals with erotic asphixiation? It is an adult film in every sense of the word.

Love that scene in Indiana Jones right after he's all scrapped up after being dragged behind a truck. Mariam kissing all his 'boo-boos.' HOT!

I like the part in Star Wars when Luke finds out that Leiah is his sister. It is that moment when he reasons, "maybe I'm not gay after all; she's my sister."

At which time Han Solo says, "no, you're gay."

How about "Crash," with James Spader and Holly Hunter. Totally weird sexual fixations combined with severe injuries.

I remember watching a movie back when I was a young teen called "First Love," that had Susan Dey and William Kat fucking every two minutes, it seemed. Laurie Partridge without her clothes on and fucking William Katt? HOT!

I think this scene from To Catch a Thief is cool. They're kissing, and fireworks are going off in the background, and he's fondling her necklace (he's a jewel thief), and she knows it, and is encouraging him to fondle away, while they're having this dialog:

Frances (Grace Kelly): Even in this light, I can tell where your eyes are looking.
[fireworks]
Frances: Look, John. Hold them. Diamonds... The only thing in the world you can't resist. Then tell me you don't know what I'm talking about.
[fireworks]
Frances: Ever had a better offer in your whole life? One with everything?
[fireworks]
John Robie: I've never had a crazier one.
Frances: Just as long as you're satisfied.
[fireworks]
John Robie: You know as well as I do: this necklace is imitation.
Frances: Well, I'm not.

Heh.

How can we discuss this subject and not mention Casablanca? No clothes go anywhere but all you have to do is look at Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman and you think hot!

The Big Easy - Bogie, Bacall, subtle heat and great chemistry. Ooozes sensuality.

I love the scene where Mollie Ringwald and Michael Schoeffling kiss over the birthday cake at the end of "Sixteen Candles." Such a sweet scene.

How about FUNNY love scenes? Kim Cattrell in "Porky's" gets my vote!
