Something profound.

One of the great aspects of my job is I get exposed to music that I probably wouldn't have caught otherwise. Such is the case with Danger Doom, a combination of Danger Mouse (he produced the recent Gorillaz album) and MF Doom (longtime underground rap artist, for lack of a better descriptor).

This combination delivers a great rap album that you can 1) just chill out to OR 2) you can use it as the background music at your next party. Yeah, yeah, I know a lot of people are turned off as soon as rap is mentioned, especially with a lot of (c)rap on the airwaves today. What Danger Doom offers is some of the things that made late 80s rap fun in the first place: clever lyrics, great soul and funk samples, and the polish that some of the old skool rappers never really had. Brings me back about 15 years or so.

The cherry on top of this musical sundae is the Aqua Teen Hunger Force (ATHF) dialogue interwoven into every song--if you're not familiar with ATHF, check out Adult Swim on Cartoon Network after the kids go to bed. Regardless, the dialogue is clever, absurd, and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny.

If you're looking to expand your musical tastes or try something off the pop-culture-driven beaten path, check out Danger Doom - "The Mouse and the Mask".

M (loves the latest Gorillaz, too!)

Though her ill nature was poison to every man who pledged his love, beneath her breast beat the fiery heart of a woman desirous of that she sought only to repel.

I will definitely check this out. And, for the record, the Gorillaz album is one of the best released since Massive Attack's "Rising Son." Pure brilliance.
