We watched Kinsey and Donnie Darko this weekend. Wow, both movies are very interesting in their own respects. Donnie was definitely a bit of a wild ride into what psychosis seems like it might really be like. Very trippy ending for sure.

I thought Kinsey was extremely well done in covering it's given topic of sex. Amazing the point that the movie started at and how far they came only to end up close to where they started in regards to sexual repression in mainstream society. Seems to draw some very eerie similarities to modern society just on a little more advanced level in regards to sexual tolerance. I do particularly like Kinsey's comment on wondering what our country would be like if we'd have been settled by the "rogues" instead of the "puritans".

Both of your flicks are fantastic. "Donnie Darko" is one of those movies that ends and you look at each other and say "Shit, was that movie as good for you?"

We just watched "Kung Fu Hustle," which is one of the kick-ass-in-est flicks EVER. Even if you're not a martial arts movie fan, you should RUSH out to rent or buy this movie. Think "Crouching Tiger" meets "The Matrix" meets "Loony Tunes." You've never seen anything like it and we keep watching the last fight scene over and over - it's just that f-ing great.

Buckshot,

"I do particularly like Kinsey's comment on wondering what our country would be like if we'd have been settled by the "rogues" instead of the "puritans"."

Think about it, our country would be like Australia -- afterall it was founded by criminals from the English justice system.....

SmilerI really enjoyed Kungfu hustle, just rented it this past weekend. I love Hero though, it is one of my all time favorite martial art movies for sheer beauty. House of flying daggers I thought was overrated. Another excellent movie that includes martial arts, romance, mystery, and action is a french movie Brotherhood of the Wolf. I adore that movie, and it has the oh-so lovely Monica Bellucci in it as well. Worth watching! Big Grin

The only thing I had trouble with was why "Frank" saved him from the engine when he knew that it would kill him in the end. What was the point of the whole future telling saga if he would have died in the accident had he not been having the night walks.

I also thought it was very cool that everyone got a sense of deja vu after the whole thing went back in reverse and played again a little differently.

Great for kids -- okay for adults to sit through! Yesterday was the first time I saw Garfield the Movie. I thought they did a good job with the CGI garfield and the dog that played Odie was very well trained. I think this is a great rental or if you have HBO (on demand this month) for kids to just sit and relax and enjoy. Richard's daughter laughed over several scenes.

There was a scene in "Wild Orchid" where Emile Reed (Carré Otis) was walking through an abandoned building and stumbled upon a local couple having "fun"

We just saw King Kong last night on DVD - WOW!!! An epic in every sense of the word and we were on the edge of our seats the whole way through. Totally sad, though, as they really fleshed out the relationship between Kong and the heroine and Kong's demise really hit hard. Even knowing the original didn't make it any less effective and Peter Jackson is definitely the king of the blockbuster these days (until James Cameron comes back to make one at some point).

We're thinking "Ice Age 2 - the Meltdown" tonight.

I still have the hots for Pheobe Cates in "Summer Lovers," made way back before she nixed doing nude scenes. Of course, "Fast Times" was jack-a-rific when she came out of the swimming pool!

We just rented an old film called "The Ruttles," which is a hilarious spoof of the Beatles by some of the Monty Python crew.

I absolutely love the movie Phenomenon. I don't know why, but that movie really touches me. It makes me want to live a better life.

Other recent surprising favorites: American Splendor, Paper Clips (documentary about a middle school in Teneesee collecting 6 million paper clips to get a grasp of just how many jews died in WWII), The Pianist, Awakenings and Finding Neverland.

I just got a DVD of "My Man Godfried," with Carol Lombard. Hilarious and wonderful.

How about sports movies; who doesn't love the original "Longest Yard," or "Hoosiers?" Can't go wrong with "Rocky" and "Rocky II," eh? I also love "Chariots of Fire, Semi Tough, Friday Night Lights, Slap Shot," and "Rollerball."

"Braveheart" always does it for me. Mel Gibson in a kilt with a Scottish accent and a claymore is irresistable. Of course, I am in love with Scotland and guys in kilts in general. mmm.... think I'll go watch it now as a birthday present to myself!

Pour some sugar on me...
