I'm interested in purchasing either the Hitachi Magic Wand ( Hitachi ) or the Acuvibe HT-1260 ( Acuvibe ). The reviews are extremely positive for both making the decision even more difficult. Do the head attachments like the G-Wiz for example or similar items fit the Acuvibe well? Does anyone have experience with both and if so which one would you recommend? If you have only experienced one of the two items I would still like to hear what you have to say. Thanks for the help.

we've had both these units for quite a while. heres what you get.

nothing beats the hitachi magic wand. the acuvibe units are nice. but are rechargable. this means ni cad batteries. the wand has a cord.

the accuvibe will rock the first year you own it. but as the batteries start to show the characteristics of taking a set etc. the performance will die , eventually leaving you with a massager that has a 10 to 15 min use life before recharging.

get the magic wand. get the G wiz or the natural contours equivalent. and get a exension cord with a built in dimmer switch. it actually turns the magic wand from a 2 speed. to a whole range. and when a magic wand is set slow. it does create quite a bumping.

on the other hand if the battery life isnt a problem, its nice to be without the leash attached to the wall.

hope this insight was helpful!

On a previous occasion, I recall you mentioning a dimmer on an extension cord to convert the Magic Wand into a variable speed vibrator, Nigel. There's also this available from Hitachi: Speed Controller

sure! that would work too. just a dimmable lamp extension cord from a hardware store would be less expensive is all. although the one you point out looks very safe, and appears to have a saftey fuse as well. nice addtion.

by the way. thanks for the link. i was unaware of these guys. like the add ons for the MW. the G-pod looks very interesting indeed!

good to see you cec!

I have been thinking about something like this for my wife. I have a box with an GFCI outlet and a resetable push button breaker. Just have to replace the switch with a dimmer switch.

Ended up going with the Hitachi because of the ability to add the dimmer switch. The dimmer switch in the previous post looks to be of high quality but I'll try the Home Depot version first. I appreciate the input from everyone.

Good luck with that. down the road. you might want to add either the natural contours slip on head for g spot massage, or try something called the G-Whiz. which is a medium sized silicone dildo molded to a cup that slips over the magic wands head.

im sure F & E could get you either of those products.

cheers!

Got it in the mail the other day, took it out of the box clicked the switch from low to high a couple of times and all of the sudden the low setting will not come on. Should I send it back of should I just try and fix it myself instead of dealing with the hassle of shipping it back?

ship it back. its a defective switch.

(not common in the 25 or so ive messed with recently no bad switches. )

the magic wand is all soldered connections inside. best to send it back and let them replace it.

if you bought it at F and E. it shouldnt be any trouble at all.

best! feel free to PM me anytime if you have questions.
Nigel.

According to Mrs.Nigel, we are currently in a period of astronomical retrograde. a time of planet alignment when what small annoying things that can happen. DO happen. things break, fail, get lost, etc, injuries occur etc.

From what ive seen about me this past week it seems to be kind of in line with that Wink
