Larlo, that built in slider thing may work - just be careful that you don't have too many watts going through it. The wand is about 25 watts and the dimmer i got was rated at 50 watts. Make sure your slider is at least 30 watts rated just to be safe.

T-rex, I actually just put the whole dimmer switch into an electrical housing like you'd put into a wall for a light switch. So the whole thing is brick shaped although a little smaller. Thought it would be safer than trying to insulate wires.

This is definitely a good modification to do so far (Although I'd like to see it being tested for a while longer to recommend it wholesale). The girl has used the 'new' wand at least twice a day for the last 4 or 5 days and is loving it. Says it's like a whole new toy, and she has had it without the mod for about 18 months now.

Absent,

I have a question about the Accuvibe. The holes where the power cord connects to has lost a copper sleeve and now it does not charge anymore. Any suggestions on a fix?

Sorry Dancer, I have no idea what you're talking about to be honest. And I am in no way qualified to give you advice, even if I did!! Razzer

But I suppose the obvious answer must be to replace the copper sleeve? Maybe try tinfoil to start with?

PS Serious disclaimer on electocuting yourself/burning your house down.

Absent,

Thanks for the advice. I got the dimmer and the box. Just need a cover and some shrink tubing.

Gonna give it a try this weekend.

About the disclaimer. This is not one of those Dell's going up in flames.

Absent (and the rest of you),

Like I said, my brother's an EE, and went through with me why this will NOT work long-term. of course I'd love to pair this with my product, My Buddy (CiciLoves).

Basically, by placing a plain dimmer inline, you are actually breaking up the sine wave of the electrical input. The Hitachi (and any other type of electrical motor) will eventually over time, over heat and die.

Soory to be the bearer of bad news...

However, there IS a way to do it, and i'm having one built right now...if y'all buy My Buddy ( I sent Jen her sample for demo purposes, but have not heard back yet), maybe we can work something out at a "group" rate????

XOXO,

Cici

Panasonic made a vibe similar to the wand. I believe it was called the Panabrator. I still have it and their is an adjustment knob on the end. It has tried to die but CPR has worked wonders.

How long does the EE give the wand. Is it worth the surgery.

I gotts to know.

And BTW, dimmers, even at full, only deliver about 90% throughput.

It's like a good set of speakers; (ask any serious audiophiles out there), it usually isnt' too much power that blows 'em out, it's not enough...

Well it's not overheating yet Wink

But it may do so, and if it does, I'll let you know.

Regarding the throughput, it definitely does take a bit of the upper end power away, but then again, I don't think most people need the top speed in any case.

Yes, you can put a magic wand on a dimmer. i would suggest some kind of dimmer on an extension cord. but i often rewire the wands for dimmer use for customers. work very nice.

best of luck, remember tho when dealing with electricity, its best to stay to professional standards. dont take chances. in bed is no place to get zapped in an unpleasant place.

cheers
Nigel.

get a two gang box wire to the dimmer using a seperate extensoin cord the to the hot side than jumper to a outlet in the same box. plug the wand in and set it on the high setting, mount it to your head board so your wife or gf can control it. my wife prefers the slow steady vibrations.

Search for "Lutron 300 Watt White Credenza® Lamp Dimmer" at Home Depot. It's a dimmer on an extension cord. It works perfectly for us.

Hey CiCi,
I didn't realized that you sent Jenn one of your product. She's been out of our shop for a month working on a project so I'll check in with her since she would definitely be the one to give you a true review. She does love her Magic Wand!

Like Freddy says, please buy something in our online store No, really, I'm not kidding, either!
