Does anyone know if the Magic Wand has brushes? I found an infinately adjustable speed control, originally designed for a router, that says it can be used for any motor as long as it has brushes. The price was right ($12) but I don't wanna ruin my Wand. I can't find the box it came in and none of the websites mention brushes or brushless.
Heeeelp...

yes the magic wand motor has small brushes.
think of it much like one of the generic "mabuchi" motors used in a remote control car. theyre small brushes.

the total power drain listed on the magic wand data sheet says it pulls a whopping 20 watts. and runs on 110-115v @60hz.

you could get away with using a standard extension cord with a built in lamp dimmer.

no need for the hi test! all you need is regular. lol

good luck
Nigel.

I did put a dimmer on it and it worked reasonably well, the only thing is that it created resistance even when the dimmer was on full, which means that the wand doesn't work at near to full power. In fact, I'd say that the wand works at slightly less power than the first power setting, when it is at the high setting with the dimmer switch on full. That's the only real negative, for those who want the huge power of the wand, otherwise it's pretty cool.

yes. you noticed right.

the joy of this is that the magic wand, will of course turn slower. as some people complain that the wand is too high power. even on low. but at low rpm. the wand has kind of a rumbly bounce to it. which is a good thing too. just different for different people. thats all. Smiler if you want the turbo boost. then leave the dimmer off. =)

come up with anything else. do share!
