We've been disappointed with about every lube we use. We typically, okay always, use water based lubes and they just run out eventually. They break down and things get uncomfortable without reapplication, which means keeping the bottle nearby and stopping to unscrew or open it, reapply, close it up and get back to it. Can anyone suggest a lube that isn't so high maintenance when it comes to performance. I only want to make one application and then go. I guess I don't care too much if it is water based or not, we don't need condoms. We do use toys but not every time. I've heard that is a consideration as well.
Suggestions? |

For just sex, we use Sliquid Silk. It's a mix of silicone lube and water-based lube, so I wouldn't recommend it for toy play. It lasts a bit longer than all water-based lube. If you're really looking for something that lasts a whole lot longer, try Sliquid Silver, it's silicone lube. It can stain fabrics and ruin silicone toys, though, so be careful! One nice thing about the Silver, is that it can stay on if you use it in water.
We use the regular Sliquid H2O for toy play. It's a little bit longer lasting than your regular water-based lube and NOT sticky! *~When I'm good, I'm very good. But when I'm bad I'm better. -Mae West~* |

We Agree on the Sliquid brand products. We Use Silk, but i do have to recommend swirl (green apple tart flavor) for other uses. It's good to have lubes for occasions.

I'd use oil (well, actually I DO use oil). Despite all the references to oil being bad/causing yeast infections or UTIs you'll find here, there and everywhere, that refers to *petroleum* based products, and *not* plant based fixed oils. There's a post with a recipe for making one *here*
It's fine to use with silicone toys, but I'd avoid use with cheaper materials. You can also, if you want to be real earthy, make a lube simply by making flax seed tea. Give them a grind in a coffee grinder, add a tablespoon or so of the coarsely ground seeds, cover with hot water, let steep 15ish minutes and then strain to get out all the bits of flax seed. It'll keep a couple days, refridgerated, but then ditch it because it's not adequately preserved. But, this probably doesn't fit the bill for "everlasting". Personally, I find the ingredients list of squilid and other synthetics creepy. I've never used a lube that hasn't been ingested to some degree, and I'd just as soon only use things that are safe & natural. Ingesting Dimethicone (silicone based lubricant) doesn't appeal to me in the least. And DMDM_hydantoin? Ew! Here's a quote about this preservative: "DMDM hydantoin is a preservative that works by releasing formaldehyde into the product." Sorry to be a buzzkill, squilid lovers... |

I suggest you try Sylk http://www.sylk.com.au/ not cheap but pretty much organic and thus not full of petrochemicals! Personally I would be concerned at using any oil however organic.
Freddy I don't think you guys stock Sylk - do you? GG In all things be true to yourself |

We have a 100% drug free and vegan lube that is blended with hemp seed oil and yohimbe extract. We actually got a sample sitting next to the bed, but haven't broken it open yet to check it out. We're going to be doing an order for other products from the company sometime soon, so we'll have to check it out and see how it lasts/feels. We're all ready hooked on selling their massage oils, massage candles, and lotions.

Initially, on what basis would you be concerned about the use of plant based fixed oils (as opposed to petroleum based oils)? As for sylk, it uses GSE (grapefruit seed extract) as a preservative - grapefruit seed extract has been shown to contain synthetic chemicals (some known carcinogens) which are responsible for its antimicrobial activity. A better "premade" product would be "Yes", which offers both water based and oil based choice. They say of GSE: "A Summary of Our findings: Grapefruit Seed Extract is marketed as having powerful antimicrobial properties. Independent research has proven that Grapefruit Seed Extract’s antimicrobial properties are exclusively due to adulterants: undeclared synthetic chemicals, commercially available preservatives and disinfectants. " They expound on this here, and offer citations to back everything up: www.yesyesyes.org/GSE.htm |

Hi Bittersweet - not trying to cause an argument, just adding my point of view! To be honest I very, very rarely use any lube.. I produce lots of my own and G does to
That said you sound rather defensive to me! In all things be true to yourself |

No desire to argue, and certainly don't mean to come off as defensive, but feel that there is so much information online about "oil based lubricants" that applies only to mineral oil/petroleum products, and not plant oils... but the info never says this, but rather just lumps them together as if there were no difference between the two. It becomes hard for people to know that there is a difference, and that most of the cautions that apply to petroleum products don't apply to plant oils. Certainly, both are incompatablw with latex, but to my knowledge, there's no evidence that plant based oils can cause yeast infections, or create a nonabsorbable coating on vaginal or anal tissues.
But if someone were to have a reaction to plant oil based lubricants, I'd be real interested in knowing about it; it makes no sense to ignore that, or just assume it's an idiosynchractic reaction. It would be worth exploring to see whether a certain plant oil/wax/butter was involved, whether perhaps the person was reacting to lanolin in a recipe, or the presence of essential oils, infused herbs or whatever. So, I was curious whether you had/knew someone who had reacted to a plant based oil. |

i can tell you that water based silicone and non water based ones deaden sensation for me to a point that would way bypass a condom.
odd reaction. but it seems to deaden sensation at a skin level. ive seen this with system jo and pur lubricants. N. --= I Might be the Stig =-- |

I envy you GG, I used to be like you but find sometimes I am a little dry, maybe not enough foreplay.
I do like Sylk but that is the only one I have tried I want to try to be as natural as I can. I have found at my age going bra-less pulls all the wrinkles out of my face |
