I have a mountain bike with which I go to work during the good season. I think I wd like to bike more in the future. I used to be an "only bike" person until distances home-work became too big, and the job too tiring. Now I work near home again, but I sort of lost the habit to bike. Tring to get back into it however. Mountain bike is a real hard job though! On saturday I will bike to the river for a bit of nude tanning, first of the season!

Does a stationary bike count?? I love the outdoors, especially hiking, but most of the places I hike aren't fit for a bike, unless you like carrying it. Jay

Hey Buck, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool roadie and used to commute 15 miles each way to work over a 750-foot hill, but since the kids were born and I've become the stay at home daddy I'm limited to the occasional 1/2 hour ride on the rollers in the garage. I miss the road and hope to get back to it more seriously after the kids start school or something. In the meantime I'm OK with the rollers and a weekend ride now and then. Congrats on the tandem!! 60 sounds like a good start and 1000 miles for the year is a great goal. Ms. Pear, I remember hearing about the Elektra - great bike! A lot of bike makers are getting back into the idea that bikes can be just for fun and what they're turning out is beautiful bikes that are easy and fun to ride. I see those out there when I ride and once in a while I feel like the equivalent of some doofus driving an F1 car to the grocery store! ...looking forward to more bike talk

I ride Actually I am looking forward to going out this weekend and doing my first Metric Century, not quite ready for a normal Century yet. I have put on about 250 miles already this year, and am looking forward to about 1500-2000 by the end of the year.

If you like riding, there's a TON of paths and trails in SW Ontario. I just prefer not to be stuck on the beaten path. Hiking is meant to explore, not to go where everyone's gone before- That's what trail running is for.

Well I did my 1st Metric Century today, not too bad except the 15-25 mph headwind for half the ride. Averaged 16.3 mph and did the ride in 3:49 so got my goal of under 4 hours So now to do some stuff with the wife for the rest of the day.

Ya so..... Monday sucked by the time it was over. I did the group ride and we picked up the pace pretty quickly at the end of the ride. I got done with the ride and it was all I could do to get myself home and into bed. Topless and I rode the tandem on Tuesday night and made it a full 20 miles which is a new best for Topless. I'm really proud of how well she's coming along on riding the tandem. We've got around 80 miles on it total now. We're celebrating with some new skinnier tires! LOL I rode in to work again today, thinking about doing it tomorrow, and then I'm leading a group ride on Saturday that will stretch pretty close to 50 miles on one ride. Should be a blast since we're ending up at the local farmer's market and meeting up with Topless and our little one.
