Hey Buck,

Nice going on the commuting!

I remember having a similar experience when I commuted the first time. One thing I discovered the hard way is the importance of riding technique. Some days my form was off and getting home was a major struggle.

Just curious, but on the Tandem are you the "stoker" and Topless the "captain"?

I wish I could get Foggy interested in riding, but then what would we do with the kids?

Nope, I'm captaining since I'm the stronger overall rider and person in general. She enjoys the stoker position since she doesn't have to pay attention to where we're going and can actually look at some of the scenery, though I think just likes looking at my backside (similar to Freddy, but without the creepiness!)

Right now the munchkin stays with grandma when we go riding together. We did borrow a trailer though and since she's a year old, we can take her along in the trailer. We just need to get her situated better as the last time we took her out she fell asleep and her head swung around quite a bit.

Thats awesome you were able to do the ride to work week. So now are you gonna do it on regular days too since gas prices are getting insanely high?

I have plotted a few of my rides on the site www.routeslip.com and here are a few of my favorites

Here's the route we did today.

Not a huge amount of climbing, but those hills with a headwind out of the west and south really started to suck pretty quickly. On a plus side it's my new longest ride of the year and we also did a 43 mile ride yesterday so it's been a good weekend of riding.

Pretty neat route you took there, and I know what you mean about headwinds. I got out early yesterday morning, did just over 27 miles with a 17 mph average not not a bad day. I am gonna try and get out this afternoon for an hour or so, just to log some more miles. So how many are you up to for the year now? Is your goal of 1,000 getting closer than you thought?

Considering I've all ready logged about 200 miles on the new bike, I'm pretty sure I'll be hitting the 1000 mile mark pretty easily. I should hit 400+ just this month.

How many miles have you logged for the year?

For the year I am just shy of 400, but that was since I got my new bike and my cycling computer, which was like 2 weeks after getting the bike, so any rides before that weren't logged. So my goal is far off, but now that it is light till almost 9 I can get some longer rides in after work.

I love cycling and start getting rather grumpy if I don't get my rides in each week. It doesn't hurt that the wife digs the shorts and physique that goes with it.

Never really tried road biking but I like the idea of biking to work but traffic concerns me.
There are plenty of trails to ride in my area and I average 10-25 miles per trip which keeps me at a level that I am comfortable with.

I was wondering if your username meant you were a rider. And yes us gals dig the shorts!! Isn't that why so many women are at the bike races?? We were at one Monday and some guy dropped his drawers with no care in the world. It was his backside, but still nudity! Although you can see quite alot through the bike shorts as well!! And that's always fun!

I only go for occasional pleasure rides, nothing too exerting, but FL is right... the shorts are great! I did watch the Tour de France just for Lance Armstrong's butt Wink

I wasn't talking about their butts...although that is mostly what you see on the rides and not too shabby and that. But when they're walking...or on the podium, that's the best, I think!!!

Between the riding and being acused once or twice of being a PITA, the name seemed to fit Smiler
It's fun to watch female hikers as you ride by on the trails. Better yet, it's even more fun checking out the female riders Razzer

I'm not as serious a rider as I used to be but I manage to get in 2-3 rides per week. Helps me deal with stress at work and maintain my fitness.

I'm a roadie and mountain biker. I average about 3-4000 miles per year on the road. I also ride 1-2 rides on the mountain bike per week. I started riding fixed gear and single speed last year. I did a few centuries on the single speed and one metric as a fixed gear bike. My wife loves the look of my shaved roady legs. She rides as well and it helps us both look better in the buff. This year has been a little slower than usual. I've had some health problems and a lot of extra time at work. I still make time for 3-4 rides a week. I'm only around 1000 miles this year but I'm ramping up for the summer and fall rides.
