So long as you are still getting out there and enjoying it, miles don't mean a thing. Even better since your wife enjoys it as well.

Well I am falling short of my goals so far, only 564 miles for the year. June was a bad month for me, only did 5 rides, so hopefully I will be picking that up in July and get a month like I had in May which was a 313 mile month. I am also starting my training for the fall cyclocross season.

I've been slacking as well. Between work, home improvement, and the heat it just hasn't been happening lately. Boy do I miss my old routine!

Wow, I didn't think I'd be the high miler for the year. I got in over 600 miles last month. I'm closing in on 1300 for the year so far. I still haven't done a century yet as my knees have me a bit apprehensive. I'm good to 50-60 miles, but it seems over that I tend to push too hard and hurt myself. I rode 74 miles on one ride and while we did take a number of decent breaks, I still bonked with about 10 miles left and literally drug myself home. Once I got there I wondered if I had enough energy to even lay on the couch!

It's funny, this year I have less miles on the bike than in the last 2-3 years but I'm having a better time overall in my life. Although my wife rides as well she indicated that she is enjoying the time we have together since I've cut back my riding.

This year is without a doubt the best year of our 15 year marriage. We've discovered a little racier side to our bedroom life and just become closer. Until this year we were pretty conservative about porn, toys etc. I wouldn't say we weren't adventurous but we were a little private with each others feelings.

I think that the time together as well as places like F&E giving us ideas have really helped. Reading about others who have a lot of the same values and feelings in the forums also make us feel better about our relationship. We'll watch a movie every week or two and have a LOT of excitement in the bedroom. We're also just plain happier in all parts of our lives.

Thanks F&E and other forum members.

Woohoo, I completed my first 200K ride yesterday! It was supposed to be a regular century ride (100 miles), but I decided to kill off two birds with one stone and go for another of my goals for the year and rode 125.8 miles total.

Great job buckshot, especially spur of the moment. I've done many centuries but I just signed up for my first double metric. Did you find it a lot harder than a century or just more of the same? I've got three weeks before the fun begins.

The century itself wasn't spur of the moment, but the extra 25K was pretty much a thought I'd only had for about a week prior to the event. I don't think the extra 25 miles would have been that hard if I hadn't stopped and rested back up. The only problem with that is I was ready to stop and rest at 100 miles so it was a double edged sword.

I think the biggest part was probably mental by thinking of 100 miles as the end of the ride in lieu of thinking about it as a 125 mile ride.

Are these at Charlotte? I don't think I could stand to do a ride like that. I want at least a few hills and climbs. Although it might be more like riding around here if the cars were on the track at the same time.

Nope, those are at the Iowa Speedway. The route had plenty of climbing for me. 4700' total for the 125 miles.

4700 for 100 miles is flat around here in the blue ridge mountains. I doubt I could find a 100 mile ride anywhere around here with less than 7000 feet of climbing. I'm getting ready for our fall century series starting next week. We have 2 centuries, a metric and a double metric in the next 6 weeks. The last century has over 8000 feet of climbing. I'm going to try to do it on my singlspeed again this year.

I ride everyday but it is a beach cruiser. This summer we did a couple of fantastic rides. www.ridethehiawatha.com was one of them. Check it out. It starts out with a tunnel, unlit, 8200 feet long. 48 degrees.
