Right this minute, what's on your bedside table? (Is this what you call those bits of furniture that live near your bed and tend to get stacked with stuff...nightstand? I dunno, you know what I mean!

On mine- a stack of books;

Snatched- Sex and Censorship in Australia by Helen Vnuk
Peyton Place- by Grace Metalious
The Albatross by Susan Hill
Naughty Stories from A to Z Edited by Alison Tyler
Taboo- Forbidden Fantasies for Couples Edited by Violet Blue
Zaftig- Well Rounded Erotica Edited by Hanne Blank
Fooled By Randomness- Nassim Nicholas Taleb (Thanks Tony )

On the remaining room available there are three small antique crystal vases on a little cream doily thing my grandmother made, the TV remote control, a very cute lamp I concocted from a junk shop silk chandelier shade with red braid and fringing ( I swear that lamp is flirty!) and a little crystal dish with an assortment of tiny bits of stuff including jewels, clips and a beautiful caramel coloured cicada husk.

A blue towel covers the whole thing because I'm very good at spilling water in my sleep.

If you looked this very second, you would find...

Two glasses of water. One from last night, one from the night before that I was too tired to take back into the kitchen when I went to bed.
A box of tissue sitting on top of an empty box of tissue so I can get to the full one. It's towards the back.
A smalled stuffed Army bear with a parachute. Very cute.
Folding sewing scissors
Fingernail clippers
Three ponytail holders
An Adam and Eve catalog that came in the mail yesterday
The Smithsonian Christmas catalog for this year
A large black desk lamp
And I'm sure there's other odds and ends that I can't think of but I'm too lazy to go all the way back to the bedroom after just having gotten up.

Stack of books (in order of appearance):

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell (highly recommended)
Sweet Life (the first one)
Longitudinal Analysis
The Power of Positive Dog Training
The Art of Fellatio
The Last Crossing
Guns, Germs and Steel
When the Smoke Ran Like Water
Home Renovations 1-2-3

Beside this there's a stack of four DVDs, three of which are pornographic in nature. There's also two bottles of lubricant, a beautiful new glass toy, a vibrator, about 10 different hair clips, a spool of red thread, an insense burner and related paraphanelia, $2.64 in loose change, a tennis ball, a bleached-but-loved old marrow bone (taken away from Willow who was tossing it around at 5:00 am) and an alarm clock.

We have a loft bedroom that no one ever sees. If people new to the house ask, I will sometimes show it to them but it is never included in the usual tour and most friends understand that they're not really welcome up there.

Wow, mine sounds almost spartan compared to the rest.

A bottle of Evian
"Trace" by Patricia Cornwell
A clock Radio
A lamp
And TV Remote

I keep the fun stuff in the drawers so the little one doesn't play dueling rocketships...

I don't have a bedside table but I do have my dresser across the room!

Alarm clock ( I HAVE to get outta bed to shut it off!)
3 stuffies (soft cuddly bears)
A jewel box from my nana
various lotions
refexology foot cream (vanilla mint mmm)
Mango massage oil
body butter

All my *ahem* special things are in my closet so the child doesn't see/find them!

Alarm Clock

The 3rd book of the "Series of Unfortunate Events" (I know it's a children's book series but it's really good. My kid only finished the first one and I'm now two ahead.)

A book light.

Box of drawing pencils

A reading lamp and usually 2 stuffed animals- a monkey and a small teddy bear.

Definitely much more interesting to see what's in the table rather than on it.

Hubby,

Gotta love that Lemony Snicket. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie!

OK, Buckshot, I'll bite. Tell us what's IN your night table?

I'll tell you both - on top there is a TV remote, electric blanket controller, lamp, chapstick, hand lotion, a Patricia Cornwell novel.

Inside, are lotions, oils, lubes, a vibrator, the box for Mr. Penis (he lives in the freezer), non-piercing jewelry, my itty bitty book light, walkman, 2 Candida Royalle videos, and the Wise Woman's Guide to Erotic Videos. Oh, and batteries, you never know when you'll need more of those. That's not the total collection, you understand, I've got stuff stashed everywhere!

In: pistol, various sex toys, video, lubes, massage oil, towels, batteries, and some games.

From the listing of several people in here packing weapons in the bedroom I don't think it would be wise to visit any of us uninvited!

Judging by these posts, there's no telling what might go off in the night around here.

Rain,
You gotta be kidding, right? O.K. here goes;

My side:
4 tier jewelry box, alarm(with the snooze button on), vaious lotions, a lot of reciepts, a lot of business cards, loads of catalogs, and just a lot of crap all over!

His side;
telephone, about a dozen new books(all to do with sex of course!), DVD player, bottle of Divine 9, various toys to try out and candles.

Something doesn't seem right here, does it?

Is this time when I confess that in revealing the stuff that's on top of my bedside table I should let you know it's actually a dressing table beside the bed so I only mentioned the bits and pieces that are technically on the bit closest the bed.

Otherwise I'd had to have told you that in the middle section of the dressing table is three bottles of perfume, a red woven sea grass box filled with all manner of grown up stuff(Eros Bodyglide, Ali Bently Vanilla Massage creme --edible and delicious). Then up on the other side there's a tall pale blue jug, a cream coloured smaller jug, a little tiny blue jug, a tea cup with blue pansies on it, an old fashioned hand mirror with embroidered flowers on the back, a crystal vase...getting the picture?

His side table has the clock radio (damn, they are ugly things), a book about Jimmy Hendrix another with the lyrics to Lou Reed songs and frames with photos. There's also the pine cone with eyes and bit of lace around it that is supposed to be our dog...a treasured Father's Day present. Yep, that's about everything.
