we are going on vacation with some good friends. we are renting a house for a week with a hot tub. i'm planning early in the week to suggest we make the hot tub clothes free. has anyone had any experience with this? we have never been nude with them before and i'm not expecting group sex, just some excitement for all. if it would lead to same room sex or hot tub sex with our respective partners, that would be cool. just looking for input. thanx.

The hot tub is a good place to suggest this if you're ever going to do something along those lines. Depending on the friends we have over, our hot tub is typically clothing optional. If it's just us, it's definitely no clothing. About the only downside for us is that we have to wear a robe to and from the tub since it's around the other side of the house.

Well then before suggesting anything like that, or dreaming steamy scenarios of naked bodies rutting together, I wd sit down and really consider carefully. What is your relation with this couple like, and what is their approach to sexuality in general and to open or open-ish sex in particular (I don´t even mention "what is the opinion with your SO", I am sure you considered this before even starting to imagine), did you ever talk about any of it, in some detail? I am an extremely open person, but I know that I wd be extremely unconfortable in a situation like that with the vast majority of my friends, even those with whom I easily joke about sex matters. Joking and stripping ain´t the same, and it is very easy to spoil a holiday or a whole friendship. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I'd feel it out. If you are better friends with one of the couple, get a dialogue going with him/her ahead of time so you know what to expect.

Then rather than jumping in, you've tested the waters to at least know their um "position".

my experience with hot tub nudity has been this. let it evolve into whatever it's going to evolve into. don't bring it up, just let it happen if it's going to. if it doesn't happen the first night, that doesn't mean it won't the second or third....or maybe not at all.

i have been i tubs with friends and after a few drinks, the suits came off without hardly any discussion. i've been in tubs with friends where there's definitely an air of "no-way".

it seems to depend on the women's relationship with each other more than anything. if they're close and comfortable, chances are one of them will lead the way. it can't be a "guys" thing.

I'd let things unfold without saying anything. If you do ask, it could either make them really excited to do it or have the effect of making the rest of the trip very uncomfortable. I wouldn't push anything, but you never know what's going to happen.

Yeah, I'd just hop in with a suit on, chill for a bit and just let things unfold. A few drinks will go down and you'll know without even asking if the suits are going to come off. I wouldn't make it a conversation piece before. I think that would just be weird.

Guess I'm in the majority here. You don't really expand on the current status of the relationship as to how this might be received. I've been naked in a hot tub with others where there was no sexual overtones that I was aware of. My experience has been if you have a preconceived notion of how things will occur, you are usually disappointed.

I'm with Snow on this one. I would ask yourself, is getting naked with these people worth ruining a friendship? Sometime fantasies are better left as fantasies.

I agree jsg, but may be someone has higher expectations from that and may be someone may not be confortable with it at all, which is legitimate.

snow states the issue right at the point.

Expectations.

if you enter in with no expectations. then there is no pressure. and no disappointment. and as Snow states, no discomfort enjoy your friends. =) without pressure to meet those expectations, you all might have a much better time.

yeah, but you don't know the details of the other relationship. Jealousy and other issues could cause real problems between the two and then ruin the weekend. I agree with whomever said, that the women will set the tone. And, the amount of alcohol consumed! lol
