This is an interesting example of the market influencing advertising. Beautiful, happy, real women come in all sorts of wonderful shapes and sizes.

Wow! Advertising "REAL" women, who actually wear the undergarments they are modeling?! Hallelujah! It's awesome that Dove is doing this.

Quote: I think I enjoy seeing 'real' women photographed with the same professionalism and attention to detail that supermodels get. One of the things that makes these images work nicely is the frank and unaffected style of photography. Of course the airbrushing doesn't hurt either. ![]() But it worth remembering; in the end, any advertising is about selling us something. They're taking this approach because they want your money. -T.C. |

TC, you're right of course, they are after my money. I guess I appreciate the "gesture" or attempt to show some diversity in bodytypes.
I do admit that in my initial excitement, I missed the gentle irony that the advertisment is for "Dove Firming Moisturiser"...aaahh the hollow promise of the beauty product! We all know how firm a face cream can make you? I expect that to a great extent that depends on where you're rubbing it? Have to say just once I'd like someone to say it's okay not to be "firm", what's wrong with sort of soft and squishy and well...womanly...huh? ![]() |
