I found this website a couple of weeks ago and love the discussions...very enlightening stuff . Anyway, I have a little bit of a problem and thought someone on here could answer a couple of questions for me. Here is the situation.....I have recently decided to shave my pubic hair completely. Its not the first time I have done it--in fact its about the 5th or 6th. It only took 2 days for me to remember why I hate it. The shaving causing razor burn, which makes me not want to shave it, which causes the hair to get stubbly, which irritates me, which causes me to shave it, which causes razor burn....and so it goes. I like it being shaved, I just don't like the problems (obviously). So, I have decided to have a brazilian wax done. Now, all I have to do is wait for the hair to grown. Can anyone please give me an idea how long I have to endure the stubbly feeling? And, does anyone have any recommendations on how to minimize the itchiness? If that is not possible, then at least give me a good line to use when I have to scratch in public................LOL (not being serious...).

I'd get someone to scratch for you. Then all anyone can say is "Get a room"

I shave from time to time. Never had a major problem with razor burn. Having watched "40 Year Old Virgin" waxing is not in my future

Ok, I don’t have experience with waxing but I have some advice on shaving if you still care to give that a go.

First, from my own experience, I think we get a little over zealous when it comes to shaving the under world, meaning we try to hard to get it close and perfect…after all it’s new and we want it slick and hot. I went through the same cycles you described years ago…sucked.

Ok, new approach:

1. Mindset…pretend like it’s just any other part of your body, not the source of life love and hot erotic passion.

2. Figure out the direction the hair grows and shave with the grain, at least at first.

3. Select a sharp razor with a lubricant strip, and a slick body gel.

4. Let hair get good and soft in a hot shower.

5. Lather up and shave with the grain and most important, holding the razor with a light 2 finger grip on the sides of the handle so you can’t put too much downward pressure.

6. Don’t over do it! One swipe, once or twice in each spot and leave it alone…don’t obsess over every missed hair…there’s always tomorrow.

As time goes by, believe it or not, the skin becomes accustom to shaving and you can get a little more focused without causing burns, bumps and ingrowns. I’ve been shaving twig and berries for over a year with now with no problems, everyday in the shower, part of the daily hygiene.

PS start out with the hair clipped short as possible

i made it home early in the afternoon and headed directly to the vanity cabinet to retrieve the DIY waxing kit. i was determined to surprize my wife with my new summer look!

taking her new stainless steel saucepan i began melting this block of stuff that looked like some sort of petrified butterscotch. getting this stuff melted was no easy task. i managed to slop a little over the side of the pan a couple of times, which resulted in a minor kitchen fire....

after getting the flames put out, and most of the smoke vented out of the house, the wax was finally ready. thinking ahead, i had forgone the instructions to apply the wax while setting on the commode. i had opted for spreading an old sheet over the bed.

i readied the nightstand, placing the hot wax beside the bed and getting myself undressed. reading the instructions, they said to swab on the wax, but looking at the size of the swabs, i reached back into my technichal mind and thought a turkey baster would do a much more efficient job.

i grabbed the baster and sucked it full of wax. lying down, i directed the baster at the target and squeezed.........AAARRRRRRGGGHHHHH!......FUCK that's hot! i decided to wait a few minutes to let this stuff cool just a bit. the hot wax had run down either side of my balls into my butt crack, and had settled on the sheet. now i know how women must feel after receiving a huge load of spooge.

i reached over after the cooling period had lapsed, and began basting away. i quickly had covered my pubic area, and scrotum with this quicky hardening wax.

i got up unaware that i had adhered myself to the sheet, and comforter below me. as i stood up the the PAIN hit. it was like my bag and ass were snagged by a passing freight train....... flailing in pain, i knocked the pan of wax from the night stand. it landed on my foot, running through my toes, sticking me tightly to the carpeting. pulling my foot loose from the carpet, i came up with blue fibers all the sole of my foot.

i danced around with a sheet and conforter following behind. the word "wedgie" doesn't do the sutuation justice. i was a man of desperation. the pain of the sheet and conforter pulling at the hair in the crack of my ass and my bag was more than i could bear.

thinking quickly on my feet, i decided that cool water from the shower might help detatch this linen load from my ass. i waddled into the bathroom, and managed to get myself, sheet and comforter into the shower. as i stood there in a misguided state of relief, i suddenly realized the water was making the sheet and comforter MUCH too heavyeeeeeeeeeeee......they SLOWLY pulled each individual hair one-by-one-by-one in an endless excruciating method.

by the time it was over, i'm certain that i was ghosty pale, and much relieved.....until i realized i still had the front pubic area, and part of my bag still covered with wax, and i had yet to cope with that. i HAD to be a man about this and give it the old quick yank.............

MY GOD!......sheeeeeeee-it!!!....what pain!....but it was finally over.

as i dried off, i reflected on what i had just accomplished, and felt really good about the "new" look i saw in the mirror......until the reflection of HER face appeared behind me....

i'm still trying to explain the whole event to her....

Must've hurt like hell though, and would've been a nice mess to clean up, I think going and getting a professional wax might be better next time mate.

I've had numerous Brazillians in the past. I mostly shave now because it can get expensive, but I do have it done occasionally. I love the smooth feeling! And, like Sexy40's said, GO PROFESSIONAL! If your first waxer doesn't do a good job, find somewhere else. It's worth hopping around to find someone who does a great job. They're out there! Oh, and take a couple of Tylenol or Advil before you do, it will help with the inflammation which isn't much anyway.

Anyway, the hair has to be approximately 1/4 inch long. The wax has to have something to grab. You do have to get fuzzy in between waxes which is very frustrating, but the hair actually comes in a little thinner the more you do it.

I'm seriously considering getting laser hair removal in the fall! Expensive, yes, but I can see it paying for itself in several years (and comfort!)

I've had four full male Brazilians, and wouldn't try to do it myself. My aesthetician charges $55 for the first full male Brazilian sugarings, and $50 for the second and third. visit. It is a problem trying to locate an aesthetician who will do a Brazilian, do sugaring rather than waxing, and will do males. The scrotum is the hardest to do, and close to the center of the body hurts the most.

Sugaring lasts longer, and pulls out the hair in the direction of growth, while waxing rips out the hair opposite to the direction of growth. Sugaring doesn't stick to the skin, while wax does.

I shave regularly, get Brazilan sugared before my clothing optional cruises and love to shave females. I'm gentle and experienced.

Enjoy! lol Yes, it does HURT! ...but the feeling is wonderful!

Been using it for years.
Never had razor burn.
Never had an issue.
Can use it daily and even more than once for a touch up if needed.
No fear of cutting my junk.

Anyway, to respond to this: neither of us being equipped the same as the other, we'd only be hypothesizing, but I would still maintain that while both genders have to deal with working blind, at least the ladies don't have to deal with floppy/stretchy bits trying frantically to move, slip, wobble, change shape, adhere to legs (!), etc. I would imagine that most men who want to be waxed go to a beauty therapist as well, but it is quite possible for a man to wax his own, er, "shaft, sack, and crack" (thus my post here).

Either way, it's no fun--but the effects last longer than shaving and don't feel very itchy at all during growback, so I still recommend it.

I have been shaving for years but have now converted to waxing. I found a fantastic salon that does it for guys and I will never go back. It actualy saves money in the long run because of the cost of blades. I am so confident in my esthatician that I have agreed to be a model for a girl in her shop that wants to start doing male brazinians but has not done it before. Hell, at a discount to boot!
