if anything what my dogs (aka furpeople ) taught me. is they are little souls. people perhaps with fur. the innocence and mischeviousness of a child. and a sense of humor.

breeds differ. activity levels differ. again all too much like homo sapiens.

If anything what dogs can teach us.

to heal.
to love unconditionally
to enjoy the subtleties of life.
to shed ignorance in others.
to overlook things we see as earth shattering. but dammit dont you steal my squeeky toy
to listen beyond speech. (this works for more than just dogs)

(later thought. gettin your belly rubbed feels SO damn good...)

somewhere in there ive probably mimicked caesars words. but ya know, i never did like that guy much.

lol

As pets go, I have known cats, dogs, ferrets and horses, and horses are by far the most instructive, perhaps because it's very difficult to ignore a message sent by 600 kg of fur and muscle. ANd they are strong and dangerous enough that you do want to get the message right. Wonderful aid for focusing your mind. And unlike most other pets they are not predators but flight animals. Their logic is different and sometimes it strains our minds a bit to follow it, which is a very educative process.

Anyway, I think we do not hide in smoke screen when we relate to pets, any pets. That is the great lesson. They force us to be somewhat more transparent.

I introduced a dog sitter to the "kids" yesterday, this is a huge bit of news . allowing my wife and i to travel together for the first time in 5 years (we normally bring the dogs wherever we go, or we dont) It wasnt hard to find people willing to house sit with two horse sized dogs, but here in ohio, I fear it was near impossible, as most are very afraid of large dogs. (the Female is 145lbs, and the pup a male, at 6 mos is edging 90)

as i was talking to the sitter. i said wait till the pup tries to hug you..

she says hug me?
i said yeah hell climb up. and put his head over your shoulder. he wants you to give him a squeeze.

she says. he got up in my lap but i didnt understand what he wants..

I said animals are odd. its as if each one has its own language. eventually youll hear it.

gonna be good to actually get away..so SO looking forward to it.

and your right Eddy. We can learn a whole lot from our furry betheren. lol

cheers
N
