We're going to be headed to Denver and an hour north at the end of the month and are looking for some nice drives and/or easy hikes that you can recommend. I was thinking Estes Park might be a nice drive through area. Any suggestions for places to eat, and things to do would be great.

They have these hot springs in the mountains (Denver-area). I was going to visit them last time I was in Denver, but I was in a car accident and had to spend my remaining vacation in the hospital.
Anyway, I hear the hot springs are pretty fun. I'm sure you could Google it. The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. ~ Oscar Wilde ~ |

We didn't make the hot springs, but did see some other fantastic sites. If anyone happens to look this topic up in the future we have to definitely recommend going to the Denver Zoo. The museum of science and nature in Denver is also worth a look if you like that type of stuff.
On our last day we took a trip up to Estes Park and from there took Trail Ridge Road up through Rocky Mountain National Park. Wow, talk about beautiful scenery everywhere. Estes Park area would definitely be a fun place to spend some time exploring, hiking, and site seeing. The town is very visitor oriented with a lot of little shops and eateries to walk around and see. The drive through the park takes 4+ hours depending on how often you stop and runs in a huge loop that drops you back west of Denver by 40 miles so at least plan on a full day to take it and get back. The road is the highest continuous paved road in the US and leads over the continental divide. Definitely some cool stuff to see. |
