More info to come, but I wanted to start this thread to let you know that THE best bed and breakfast in the country is hiding away in the middle of nowhere in Southern Oregon.

Expect a full review and more gushing about the wonderfulness later.

ive heard of the pinehurst. perhaps its because im from that general area of the country. but the opinions ive heard is that its quite nice.

the little river inn in little river ca. near mendocino is very nice as well.

wife and i spent nice time at the ventana in big sur as well.

all very nice places to stay.

roughing it is nice. but even better. a remote location and some sweet hospitality.

im really glad you celtics had a great time!

I know there is more than one Pinehurst Inn around the country, so there MAY be some confusion until we've managed to type up a review with linkage, but I'm still reeling over the wonderfulness of the place. It's not sparkling and sanitary, sometimes a creepy crawly makes it into the building from the natural setting, but overall it's a wonderful place that we'll definitely return to.

We also discovered our new favorite wine from a small local winery and bought a half bottle to bring home, too. Now F&E REALLY need to come up to visit so we can share the wine!!!

Well, we already broke the bank a little with the rest of the experience, so we decided to be modest with our purchasing. I've got the website for the vineyard as well and plan to buy more of this wine with tax returns. I hope.

Once I've gotten more of this godawful homework done, and I feel more caught up, a full on review with links will be up in this thread. Including the link to the wine, which I'm having to restrain myself from drinking almost every night so far.

I'll take a wine recommendation any day, Ang! That martini glass in my hand over there really should be a wine glass...much more appropriate! Don't I just love living a stone's throw from the Willamette Valley. Smiler

Cheers!

Well, since it's taking me a while to actually get anywhere with reviews (just ask Freddy!) I figure I'll at least post this link happiness to the wine.

It's the 2004 Claret at the top of THIS page, and it is, as I told Ranger, GULPABLE. I could have downed the whole thing in about 2 seconds, given the chance.

Also because of my failure in time budgeting, HERE is the link to Pinehurst Inn's homepage. There were a few small changes to the menu the night we were there, but the dinner itself was bloody amazing all the same.

If anyone has any specific questions about our stay there, I'll be glad to answer them, even after the review is finished.
