I am struggling to upload a picture, I get the following message

There was an FTP (file transfer) error. The detail is 'Upload to '/testdir/test.txt' failed. Detail: '552 Transfer aborted. Disk quota exceeded
''.

The photo is less than 300Kb. (295)

Any suggestions or is there a problem at your end?

Ouch, we had that problem in the past, I think that Freddy and Eddy was bursting and needed more net space or whatever it is called.

Generally speaking I think it wd be a good and decent thing to keep pics under 100 kb. Most pics can be reduced also more than that and still be perfectly enjoyable and readable. It wd make life easier for everyone, just a hint.

The other option you have is to host the picture elsewhere and hotlink to it so you're not using our server space to share the picture. We've been struggling quite a bit lately to save server space and if we have to keep increasing server space just to host all the pictures, we may have to look at whether it's cost effective for us to allow uploading of pics at all.

That's still a ways off, but it would be helpful to us if everyone kept that in mind as they upload their pictures.

Can you suggest some hosting sites?

What about deleting meassages that are 6months or older?

there are a lot of photo servers, flickr photobucket etc. but they do have policies governing adult images and thier public or private use. you just need to look about and youll find one. or if your totally serious look for someone that just provides server hosting for file storage. web providers? how about the web account that comes with your provider? whats thier policy governing explicit images?

wish i could be of more help. but in effort to educate yourself im sure youll be able to find what you are looking for hope this gets you going in the correct direction.

Norther Nurse the smal print on imagehost says no adultimages - maybe they have changed their poilcy, or you get away with it until they find the image.

It is odd, but I hesitated for a couple of days, because I wasn't sure I wanted to put the images out there. I guess it goes to show that I kind of feel safe and amoungst friends on this site, but not so sure else where. You are a good bunch!

So now all I have to do is practice putting images into the text.

Yes, I know that they say no adult immages but I have never had a problem or had any deleted. Photobucket is the worst for cutting up people's accounts.

There is no individual file for members. That being said, yes, resizing previous posts would help the situation. Also, linking from another host server takes less bandwidth than adding an attachment.
