Since the post I placed in Latest Site Updates will probably get bumped, we'll start this thread to keep the links available to anyone who wants to see our mugs and learn more about us through appearances we've made on TV or radio or in print. As we get around to digitizing them, you'll be able to click and view them here.

Click here to see our appearance on Discovery Channel's "Sex Files."

Two more appearances we made (on the Tyra Banks Show and CBS News) will be posted soon, as well. Look for those links at the bottom of our Downloads Page. We'll also begin linking to our weekly LA and OC Weekly columns through here shortly.

has the Tyra one already aired? I watch that show as often as I can (and have been known to tape it if I can't)... I'd love to see it when it airs...

It did air and a couple of our friends caught it on their Tivos. Now, if we can just figure out how to get it from there to my PC to edit...

So now we know what you sound like AND your real name... *sigh* where will it end?

Great vid clip.

I have a friend that rips DVD from TiVo.
I'll ask him for advice on the easiest for you F&E if you still need it.

We could totally use some guidance on getting stuff off Tivo, whether on tape or DVD. We have two clips we need to get, one on the Tyra Banks Show and another on CBS News. Both are on our friend's Tivo and we have no clue how to get them off.

Depending on the method of how the Tivo updates, it could be very simple. Our Tivo's (all four of them) have wireless antennas and are connected to our wireless network router and update through our DSL modem. (We don't have them plugged in to the phone jack to "call out" for updates anymore because we once lost a Tivo modem to lightening.) the wireless allows us to move programs from a Tivo to our laptop to watch when we are away from home or transfer a program from the living room Tivo to the one in our bedroom or to the one in the office.

If your friend has this capability, then he can move the clips to his computer and then burn it to a DVD.
Any questions or clarification? Then I have to ask the hubby for more details. If you are looking for quality, then this is the way to go.

Hope this helps or gives you an idea on where to start. Otherwise, hook the Tivo up to a VCR with an RCA cable to the A/V IN ports and use either another RCA cable or coax cable to hook the VCR from the A/V out ports to the TV.

OK, our friend's Tivo is kind of old, so the wireless thing is probably not happening. However, what you're saying is, I can basically unplug the Tivo cable from the television, run it to a VCR, and tape the show directly onto tape, right?

Right on man! Wink Hook the Tivo to the A/V IN and the TV to the A/V OUT on the VCR and you will be in business or at least you should be anyway. Hooking the TV up will allow you to moniter and check tape quality, speed, etc. I married a tech junkie so I am not at a loss for electronic gadgets in this house.

Tivo is a marvelous thing, or it is at least in our house. There is nothing like pausing "live" TV. Tivo reported a HUGE spike during the Super Bowl half time show when the "wardrobe malfunction" happened with Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake last year.
It is a great thing...... Big Grin

Oh, I did forget one thing....If you could find anyone who deals with Linux/RedHat opereating systems on their computer. Most of the Tivo hard drives use Linux operating systems, etc. We upgraded all of our hard drives so that we could record more stuff at higher resolution. We had a Linux machine running at that time as our print server and used it to format the new drives before installing them in the Tivos. If there were someone in your area that you knew that ran this, the drive could be pulled out of the unit and installed into their computer as a slave drive and the file transfered and then burned to a DVD.

This may have lost you somewhere in the description. Sorry!!!! I am just thinking of archivial video quality for longevity purposes.

Freddy,
Hooking up to a VCR gets the clip to tape, but it loses portability. You still need to get it to a computer.

Certain video cards, have TV in which would allow capture of the signal right to your computer from Tivo. You'll need the right codec on your computer to view the signal.

I know computers but I don't know TiVo so I only have half of the solution. What other outputs are on the TiVo.

I think my friend has a DVD burner in his collection of TV components. I'll still ask today though.
